Despite a few misses that would make it stand out, PC-Mac Password Vault Lite stores your login information for free. The compact, skinnable interface makes it easy to store your usernames, passwords, and associated URLs. While you can add notes to each record, you can't customize the fields or create categories to organize your entries. The program's security arsenal includes a password-protected login, an autolock feature, and a password generator. When the program shuts down, it also clears the clipboard memory to erase information copied for quick online login. Similar to other competing applications, you can launch Web pages directly from the main window, but the lack of an autofill feature for quickly completing Web forms is its biggest drawback. PC-Mac Password Vault Lite is a straightforward password manager for your online accounts and its security measures are impressive, but those who want little extras will have to look elsewhere.

PasswordVault Lite is a free password manager which securely stores your website access information, Internet banking data and software runtime keys for convenient and easy access.

It protects your data using very strong 896-bit encryption and includes auto-filling of Web forms, auto-lock timer, auto-clipboard clear, random password generator, import and export of data (for easy backup and transfer), editable categories, editable notes, master password recovery system, selectable skins, detailed reports after portable/desktop sync, and secure password auto-distribution (for organizations). The bundled portable version runs directly off USB drives and iPods. Windows, MacOS X and Linux versions are available. Now imports data from most other password managers on Windows, MacOS and Linux.

Version 6.0.1 adds online password synchronization (so passwords on multiple computers can be easily and securely synchronized anywhere in the world), global floating window transparency (making it less conspicuous), Windows Vista compatibility, reduced CPU utilization.

Note: The Lite Edition includes a 30-day trial of auto-distribution and supports 15 services, whilst the commercial Std and Pro Editions support any number of services.
