Straightforward and secure, Password Depot nicely safeguards hundreds of logins, whether you're at home or in your office. The convenient interface uses tree-organized folders to classify numerous passwords. An icon called TopBar, located in the screen's upper-right corner, gives you instant access to your passwords. Password Depot offers all the necessary features you'd expect, including a password generator and Web-form autocompletion. As a bonus, you also can encrypt, decrypt, or irrecoverably delete files and folders via a right-click. With a simple mouse click, you can go directly to the Web address that's associated with a certain password, although this feature failed to work in some of our tests. The utility doesn't use an inordinate amount of system resources, but the trial version restricts you from storing more than 20 passwords. Anyone who needs to keep all his or her passwords straight and secure will benefit from this program, and the additional features may help to woo even more users.

Publisher's description

From AceBIT :

Password Depot is a powerful and user-friendly tool for managing all your passwords. Although it is very simple to use, it has the most complete and sophisticated range of powerful features of all Windows password utilities. Among the key features of Password Depot are an integrated password generator allowing you to create uncrackable passwords and the auto-complete function for easy logging on to Web sites and many other functions you would expect from a trend-setting password manager. New and unique features such as FTP password files allow you to access your passwords from any place worldwide. You also can use Password Depot on an USB memory stick and have it with you all the time.

Version 2.0.6 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

    Version: Password Depot 2.0.6

    "Just a terrific little program"

by BongoShaftsbury on February 20, 2005

Pros: It had gotten to the point where I had to have a password book to keep track of all my passwords. (How secure is that?) It was maddening to be looking up passwords every time I went to a site I only visit a few times a month, but I have absolutely refused to use the same password for any site involving potential financial or personal data loss, and for security purposes I want passwords long and complex. If you bank, pay bills, use credit cards or maintain subscriptions online, you might want to consider this program. It allows you to create lengthy obscure passwords and user names and then locks them up in a double encrypted file under a 19 symbol master password that you create. When you unlock the program, you can use a nifty toolbar to automatically access sign-on screens and a drag and drop process for fillin in logons and passwords. When you're done, lock it up and forget about it.

Cons: It should go without saying that even a highly encrypted lock box on your system can be vulnerable to hackers if you don't maintain the highest level of security on your system. I wouldn't maintain this program in an unsecure system.

    Pros: - easy to use

    - minimizes automatically

    - small top bar GUI which makes it easy to access the passwords

    - generation of uncrackable passwords like Xs7coeDsC, which I don't have to remind..the program does it for me

    - it goes to a website with one click and completes the login fields automatically
