CNET Editors' review
Feeling left out because all your friends are pillaging villages online and you just don't have the time (or money) to become a Level 70 mage? Or are you a little shy to dip your foot into the MMPORPG pool? Either way, you can give "PMOG," the "Passively Multiplayer Online Game," a shot. This free Firefox add-on allows you to "play without playing." Instead, you earn points through the course of your daily Web surfing. You can use these points to buy supplies for your missions, whatever they may be. Your progress is shown in a hideable display bar that sits at the bottom of your browser window.
There's more, of course, if you want; you can leave mines to harmlessly sabotage others, leave gifts, go on Web expeditions, and more. Your behavior will lead to associations with other like-minded players in this light-hearted Web-surfing-online-game mashup. If you're looking for a way to kill some time online without making a full-time commitment or selling your possessions, "PMOG" is an easy way to do it.
Publisher's Description
From GameLayers:
PMOG stands for Passively Multiplayer Online Game. Players play without playing; clicking around the Internet turns into experience points and currency. This unconventional massively multiplayer online game merges your Web life with an alternate, hidden reality. The mundane takes on a layer of fantastic achievement. Player behavior generates characters and alliances, triggers interactions in the environment, and earns the player points to spend online beefing up their inventory. Suddenly the Internet is not a series of untouchable exhibits, but a hack able, rewarding environment.
