From MPSoftware :PHP Designer 2005 is a PHP editor designed to provide you with the complete set of tools you need for PHP coding. The development environment combines many powerful features such as customizable syntax schemes for PHP, HTML, XHTML, CSS, and SQL, a class/include browser, test and debug your scripts with the PHP interpreter, and integration of the PHP manual, parameter hint. It also features the ability to autoindent brackets, automatically close brackets, and grants access to common code/script libraries all combined in this one unique program. PHP Designer 2005 includes extra tools such as time-saving features like a FTP manager, a project manager, a file manager, a To-Do manager, code templates, snippet support, File format (Windows/Dos, Unix or Mac), export possibility to LaTex, HTML, and RTF.
Version 3.0.6 adds the options to turn off/on each AutoClose bracket, syntax schemes for Perl, Java, C#, VB, and some enhancements and bug fixes.

Pros: It seems to me that PHP Designer 2005 is like a Microsoft Visual Studio for PHP...

"Seems to be very powerful and well configurable!"
Pros: It has manual or automatic syntax highlighting, that can be customized. Installs quickly, start quickly. I might consider using it since PHPedit became commercial.
Cons: still I miss some functions of HTMLEdit, like CRTL+Umlaut keys to produce the umlauts on the fly...
The syntax highlighting does NOT work like this: When the cursor is in PHP code, the HTML is grayed :(

Pros: Truth is, a lot of what this program does is beyond my scope of knowledge, although I'm gradually assimilating it. Even so, it's obvious this is a very well-conceived piece of software that integrates a range of capabilities in a convenient package.
Cons: I'd probably have to know a lot more to find anything wrong.

"It's so good that it's hard to believe it's free!"
Pros: For me, PHP Designer 2005 is the perfect blend of a full-featured IDE with the ability to also do the quick'n'dirty without being scolded by the software. I can do with this what took two programs previously, and it's just a joy to work with. There's something here for everyone from beginner to advanced coder. It's bulletproof, full-functioned, and powerful.
Cons: With a comprehensive Help System, this would get a 5-star rating.
