We like this PDF-conversion utility for its ease of use and wide variety of output formats, but installation issues and a not-so-generous trial version detract from the overall experience. After you install PDFconverter, the app prompts to install another component, called GhostScript, from the Web.
Although the program automatically does this for you, we don't understand why it couldn't have been included in the main installation package. On the plus side, the software holds your hand throughout the entire conversion process, so even newbies aren't likely to get lost. The ability to drop PDFs into the main interface is convenient, but we wish you could also add files by browsing your PC. PDFconverter transforms PDFs into a number of different formats, including BMP, TXT, JPEG, PNG, and HTML. As a bonus, also features a tool for quickly extracting text from PDFs.
Although the program worked pretty quick in our tests, we can't vouch for its prowess with large files, since the demo will only let you convert the first page of any given PDF. While this restriction makes PDFconverter inappropriate for use with bigger documents, those who only need to occasionally transform small PDFs will likely find this program a hassle-free affair.

Version: PDFconverter 2.1.123
Pros: Loaded quickly.
Cons: Didn't do the job, didn't convert either of 2 test PDFs. Also Program had a notice that said, on the demo version, it would only convert first page on the PDF, which makes it useless as a test if, for example, there are graphics on second page.
Summary: Exactly same problems as free version. One of two conversions had a useless error message. The other conversion took forever to fail to convert before, after more than a half-hour, I terminated conversion.
