The world of toolbars is changing. Where once every new toolbar tried to be everything to everyone, now each is trying to fill a particular niche. This toolbar certainly falls into the niche category, focusing on improving your system performance, but what you see isn't exactly what you get.
The PC Speed Booster Toolbar offers a nicely designed set of features that, unlike other toolbars, isn't crammed tightly together. Beyond the standard toolbar fare such as a Google search field and pop-up blocker, the main features of this IE add-on are two buttons: Boost PC Speed Now and Remove Spyware. Don't expect instant access to these tools, though, because the buttons aren't armed and loaded when you install the toolbar. Instead, clicking them takes you to sites where you can download the tools. One is RegCure, for cleaning your Registry, and the other is XoftSypSE, for searching out spyware, malware, adware, keyloggers, and more. The latter wouldn't work for our testers using Vista.
PC Speed Booster Toolbar's primary tools aren't built into the toolbar, forcing users to download and install apps from external sources. The features it does offer are found in nearly every other toolbar on the market. Skip this one. You can download free tools on your own.
