It's hardly uncommon to stumble upon Web sites that leave you feeling like you need to take a shower, but keeping your PC clean and free of junk files, invalid registry entries, and other issues pays off in not only enhanced security but also increased performance. Add in a variety of tweaks, tune-ups, and other system utilities and you have a versatile PC toolkit. That's what you get with Arafasoft's PC Shower 2011. It's a free bundle of useful tools for cleaning and tuning your PC. Unlike many free versions of premium tools, it actually cleans what it finds without requiring paid upgrades.
PC Shower 2011 bundles several tools, including Registry Cleaner, Internet Cleaner, and Disk Cleaner. Each tool offers plenty of information about what it's doing and lets you deselect any item. The registry scan is thorough. Since registry cleaners can cause problems if used carelessly, we carefully reviewed the scan's findings. Seeing no red flags, we proceeded with the cleaning, though we were much relieved when the program automatically backed up our registry before doing the job. The disk scanner found a variety of junk files, mostly in our browser and temporary file caches. Again, the scan displayed a lot of information and gave us the opportunity to deselect items, and it did its job quickly. PC Shower packs in many other tools common to similar packages, including a broken-shortcut scanner, startup tuner, disk checker, and uninstaller. We could also enable password protection and change the interface language to several choices. We didn't try the Turbo Booster feature, which temporarily shuts down background processes and dedicates maximum resources to the CPU and RAM for gaming and other high-performance applications.
PC Shower 2011's free tools are comparable in power to some premium tools we've tried, yet they offer enough information and options to avoid the problems that can arise when free tools delete files and registry items indiscriminately. If we have a complaint about the program, it's that the interface is a bit too busy and could use some design direction, and that the translations sometimes come up short. But we have no problem recommending it to all users.

"Powerful program, awkward to use"

Very quickly and automatically scans your system and flags issues. Allows you to choose which issues you would like scanned.
Cons
You really need to know all about your operating system in order to use PCShower. It 'showers' you with reams of information, and absolutely zero explanation of what any of it means. The rating system is questionable ... a seemingly trivial issue, like 2 related programs sharing a DLL, is rated "Strong Severity". And you only get one chance to review a list of flagged items (over 1800 in my case) and decide which should be acted on. As soon as you choose one and process it, the remainder of the list becomes inaccessible.
Summary
PCShower is a very powerful and fast program. But its judgment, presentation of problems, and methods of proceeding do not stand up to scrutiny. By all means, use it if you have the ability to deal with its limitations. But for most people it is just too far out of reach.

"Flawed Interface And Performance"

A host of useful PC cleaning and maintenance tools to use. Free of charge.

The interface is jumbled, making it needlessly difficult to see all possible selections in a maintenance category (like the screen needs to be maximized, but the program will not allow it). It's so jumbled, that the program feels like it's tripping over itself as it runs.
Summary
The program states that it is 6.7. If that's true, then I do not have much hope for program improvement. Downloaded it, tried it, deleted it. FAIL.
