The virtual DJ setup of OtsTurntables Free lets you mix and tweak your own MP3s to make you sound like a world-class turntablist. The interface emulates a real-life setup of two turntables and a mixer. Each turntable has pitch, tempo, and direction control. There also are play, stop, and auto-fade controls, and the program comes with virtual outboard gear such as a power amplifier, a graphic equalizer, and a dynamics processor. The free version limits the dynamics processor to compression and gain control, however. Quirky effects such as Surface Noise, Various Scratches, and Needle Noise are interesting. We liked the auto-DJ function, which automatically crossfades between tracks. You can add individual files, CDs, streaming playlists (M3Us), or folders to the playlist. The program supports WAV and MP3 files, as well as its proprietary Ots format. Though this version appears feature-limited compared to the paid versions, OtsTurntables Free is a solid player for both newbies and laptop DJs.Publisher's description
From Ots Labs :OtsTurntables Free is a free (no spyware, no banner ads), virtual set of professional mixing turntables that empowers music lovers, aspiring DJs, and pros to scratch, adjust tempo and pitch, play backwards, and mix MP3s, WAVs, Ots files, and CDs. DJ your next party like a pro, or just enjoy listening to your MP3s mixed professionally at home with the auto-DJ function. You'll love the optional, warm vinyl-crackle ambience, and the built-in Dynamics Processor will save you juggling that volume knob ever again.

Version: OtsTurntables Free 1.00.027
Pros: Good for parties. Turn your computer into a auto song
player. Cool stuff has upgrade to record too.
Cons: Must pay to record on pro version.

Version: OtsTurntables Free 1.00.027
Pros: dynamics processor is the best I've tested. easy to use, supports multiple playlists, auto DJ feature lets you set up a playlist and let it play as long as you like.
Cons: Not really a problem, it's not exactly free. Free version inserts an announcement and can't be disabled. Fairly unobtrusive, if you want it gone, it'll cost you $30. More features for higher prices. Great program at that price.

Version: OtsTurntables Free 1.00.027
"Probably great if you want to DJ by software, small disks to grab/scratch"
Pros: looks like a very well laid out program with tons of useful features for DJs to do traditional DJ stuff, I was just looking to see about scratch capabilities.
Cons: scratch capabilities were really good, but the turntable/vinyl area to grab onscreen was too small for use with a mouse....

Version: OtsTurntables Free 1.00.027
Pros: Looks cool, sounds cool, works fairly well. I like the feature that lets you fade smoothly to the other turntable.
Cons: Everything goes good until you start seeing a popup, and ads in the interface. But read this: It interrupts and/or STOPS your music with a "BLEEP DEE BLEEP OTS AUDIO" loudly and then it takes one of your tracks off one of the turntables. I never seen freeware do this before. There is better ways to promote your "pro" software.
