The premise of Opera has always been the same--develop the fastest, smallest, and most full-featured browser available--and the latest version maintains the tradition. Opera has all the basics covered, including tabbed browsing with mouse-over preview, a search bar, advanced bookmarking tools, and simple integration with your favorite e-mail and chat clients. Mouse-gesture support, keyboard shortcuts, and drag-and-drop functionality further enhance your surfing experience.
With solid basics, Opera's extra features push it to the top of the class. Integrated theme support lets you preview themes from within the interface so you know what you're getting before you download. Widgets (akin to Mac OS X dashboard applications) are small, useful programs that appear in a window from any app while Opera is running. The Wand utility combines autofill with saved passwords. We really like the addition of torrent support and real-time fraud protection for safer browsing.
A new feature in version 9.2, Speed Dial, permanently assigns bookmarks and tabs any digit from one through nine. When you enter one of those numbers into the URL bar, the corresponding site loads when you hit enter. Overall, we think Opera might have what it takes to unseat even the biggest-name browsers if users give it the opportunity. Opera is a must-download for those looking for a full-featured browser with added extras.

Version: Opera 9.24
"Tested it and it was brilliant."
Pros: Not only is Opera one of the three most used browsers, but it also has a very nice interface, comes with skins, built in bittorent, email client, installation is easy and comes in all different languages, it uses very little RAM (less than Firefox and IE7), loads a lot faster, comes with widgets and plugins, themes, skins, you can basically arrange everything however you like, and the file size is very small, and stays the same even if you download widgets and skins. It is also used on Nintendo DS.
Cons: Unforunately, many people reject Opera for I have no idea what reason, but I really think Mozilla FireFox fans should give this browser a try at least once! Opera doesn't view some webpages correctly, which is another downfall. Opera has been so underrated when it has done so much more for free!

Version: Opera 9.24
"For Mozilla fans: Give Opera another try!"
Pros: In the past ... even though Opera had so many extra features compared to Firefox I still wasn?t impressed enough to make the switch from my beloved Firefox.
Now ... It's another story!
The Opera 9 browser has a lot of new features. BitTorrent, Widget and IRC support and the most important for me memory and resource usage really caught my eye.
Memory and resource usage is one of the most important factors in deciding how I feel about an application I am using every day. In order to decide who's the faster browser I used Firefox and Opera simultaneously on separate screens and then began opening up tabs and loading pages.
The results as follow:
At the begining, browsing 3 diffrent webpages, Opera was using 35MB of memory while Firefox was using 29MB. Then with 15 tabs open Firefox jumped to 110MB while Opera rose to 50MB of memory used!!! Oau... I was impressed. Opening more and more tabs Firefox started to go slower and slower using more and more memory. Opera by the other way was still reacting fast with 50 diffrent tabs using twice less memory than Mozilla. Please do this test by yourself ... you will see what I am talking about.
To really illustrate how Opera stacks up versus the other browsers let's ran it through another tests:
** TEST Acid2 (you can find this test on webstandards org website). Acid2 is a test page, written to help browser vendors ensure proper support for web standards in their products.
- Opera success !
- FireFox didn?t completely fail the test, but they didn?t completely succeed.
- Internet Explorer 7 ? Failed miserably.
** TEST Page Rendering Times. For this test I have created a large page containing a table with lots of rows and some css mixed classes. The results are bellow :
- Opera 9.2 time 5.01
- FireFox 2.0.09 time 5.03
- Internet Explorer 7 time 8.50
Opera 9.2 came in first place!
In my previous tests for older Opera and Firefox browser, Firefox was the winner. This is no longer true...
Cons: Nothing!
I really recommend you to switch from Mozilla to Opera.
You will be pleased to discover this new redesigned browser!
