What's new in this version:
Version 1.5.3 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
scanned the local network.. actually I did the "select computers" then "Browse Choose from Network computers" . / then OK and "clicked Find Keys" it scanned for Office installations.. located them and showed the PC's I selected and what versions was installed.. efelton is correct it only shows the first 4 characters of the actual keycode..(unless registered) but I didn't need that.. just use magical jelly bean for that.. www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder
CON 1. the issue I found was I had to check "browse choose From Network Computers" (select pc's).. check "Resolve Remote Host IP Address to Name" AND Check "Ping Computers Before Scanning" ALSO turn off windows Firewall.. to get the product to work properly.
CON 2. yes when you close the app.. it forces you to click the "Order Online Now" button to close the app OR kill it with taskmanager.
Use it to scan local network for Office installations / Pay if you want the install keys / don't pay just to determine what versions you have.
The Scan IP subnet id flakey or broken at best.. I could not get it to work using that feature.. but It did accomplish what I needed.
Provided me the first 4 characters of my product key so I could use some other tool to actually find it.
What a piece of crappy software!
After jumping through all the cnet-installer bloatware nonsense I installed Office Product Key Finder.
It found my product key (in "%PROGRAM_FILES%\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE14\Office Setup Controller\PROPLUS\SETUP.XML") but only displayed the first 4 characters in the "Free for 15 days" mode.
Then when I tried to close Office Product Key Finder I was presented with a dialog where the ONLY button was "click here to buy"!!! I could not close the dialog, nor the program, without going to Task Manager and killing the process. I have seen some trickery in my day, but this is atrociously abusive of a potential customer.
Do NOT download this software! It is a waste of your time, efforts, and energy!
