"I've been waiting for this..."
Pros: Nvu is a nice, lighter weight alternative to the likes of Dreamweaver and FrontPage. Not only is it free, it's easier to navigate and doesn't hog system resources. It would be good for newbies, but more advanced users should find it useful, too. Applying custom styles and markup is easy, it supports UTF-8 extended characters, and it doesn't hog system resources. I used Dreamweaver for years, from version 1.0 through MX 2004. I always hated its klunky interface, and now I have an alternative that doesn't bog me down with all those unused bells and whistles.
Cons: Nvu-generated source code passes validation with flying colors, but it's formatting is a little funky. Not a major drawback, though.

"Remarkable results can be acheived in no time..."
Pros: If you can use a word processor, you can use Nvu. Remarkable results can be acheived in no time with Nvu's approach of allowing you to create web pages as easily as you would type a word processing document.
How about getting your created pages uploaded to your web site? It's a snap since Nvu publishes them to your web site just by saving the document.
The help system is amazingly thorough, which is ironic since you probably won't need to spend much time there to figure out how to get your project done, as the application is so easy to use.

"this one's just right..."
Pros: For my purposes, Dreamweaver or FrontPage are overkill. I don't want or need all the bells and whistles they offer, but I don't always want to use Notepad or "code-based" editors either.
Nvu provides just the tools I need, without all the extraneous junk that I don't. That makes it easier to use, and keeps it from sucking up all my PC's memory and disk space.
Cons: Don't expect it, or any WYSIWYG editor for that matter, to generate code that is as streamlined as one can "hand-code" with a text editor.

"Nvu is a terrific product, I've been using pre-releases for months"
Pros: It has a great interface, is simple to understand and easy to use. I especially like the publish feature which allows you to promote your changes to your web site with the click of your mouse.

"Simple, Easy To Use, and Free"
Pros: For novices, this is a neat little editor to get you started. For experienced developers, it can be useful to create quick and dirty WYSIWYG web pages and generate html code.
Cons: * The source code formatting could be better. I don't like the way it line breaks after 30 or so characters. When you right click on a page, the page property sheet should appear. It would be useful if meta descriptions could be entered in the page property sheet. The ruler could be more descriptive. Layouts in pixel, em, etc. would be nice

"It's abandoned and stagnating"
Pros: It's mozilla's old editor with a couple new features. Decent editor, though Linspire's "contributions" didn't merit an entire new product.
Cons: Munges your HTML, so it's no good if you like to switch back and forth between WYSIWIG and source modes. Yes, it has a button to turn off mangling, but it doesn't always work.
The editor has been abandoned by Linspire. Hasn't been updated in over a year. Given the fact that Linspire probably won't be around forever, I wouldn't invest the short learning curve in this editor.

"A very good looking, functional editor."
Pros: Linspire Inc makes a crappy OS, but a great HTML editor! I like the look of N|vu, and i especially like the tags window.
Cons: One of the few things I don't like aobut N|vu is that whenever you open a HTML file that has been edited in another editor, it calls it it's own and changes the codes form. It get's very annoying when a program gets intrusive and adds and changes a bunch of stuff.

"Wow...Goodbye Dreamweaver hack! Back into the daylight with a powerfull freebee!"
Pros: Calling all Dreamweaver hacks back into the daylight, Nvu finally steps up with power and freedom. Easy all around, from newbs to pros. Mac and PC compatible. I'm staying on top of this one.

"this makes frontpage worth $20 instead of $120"
Pros: FREE!! This works just as good as frontpage for me! Once you figure out how to upload pictures it works like a charm! (p.s. try it with atspace.com)

"NOT FOR A NOVICE"
Cons: I have no Idea how this program works. It is definitely not for a novice such as myself. One needs a basic understanding of HTML and web pages to even know what the help seciton is saying. So for all those who say it is good for a newbie/novice..WRONG..I am too ignorant to use it. Unless you want to spend hours learning and reading the help section. MS publisher and Picture it publishing requires no knowledge and is easy to use for the truly novice. Any program with predesigned templates so all you do is type in information and add pictures is much better than NVU.
