Notepad is a Notepad replacement with an eye toward programmers, although it should also appeal to the casual user who wants a cross between Notepad and WordPad. Notepad has some noticeable differences from WordPad. Support for tabs is key, letting users manage different documents simultaneously. Line-numbering is important, too, a feature that nobody mucking about in C should be without.
The interface is much simpler compared with some of its competitors. A familiar row of icons with their mouse-over labels sits at the top, and one row of tabs is just below that. The rest of the screen is made of nothing but pure white space. All the coding tools live in the menu bar, with some represented on the toolbar. Users can compile and run macros, convert text to Hex, submit directly to W3C for validation, launch in Firefox and IE, and more. There's also a built-in spell-checker.
Choosing between Notepad and NoteTab Light probably will depend as much on layout as anything else. Although, forgive the pun, notably Notepad can not autoreplace Notepad, it's still an excellent Notepad replacement.

Version: Notepad++ 2.8
"if u haven't tried this one, u should stop using computers. that simple."
Pros: Super-small - 700 kb. Has Autocomplete -Visual Studio style popup dropdown with Ctrl+space- but not intellisense -its not an ide at all - its an editor - supports almost ALL programming languages, you can define you own language, syntax, coloring, everything. The best editor out there without IDE capabilities.-you can't define your own tools and associate actions. Check out their website- notepad-plus.sourceforge.net- its made using notepad++!!- that shows its versatility. The config files are in xml, so all you have to do to add keywords which come with newer releases of your programming language is that you have to simply add the words into the text file "langs.xml" and library functions in the install_folder\plugins\APIs\lang_name.api file which is simply a list of words,nothing more. First do take a backup of the original before modifying. For the geek, it uses Scilexer.dll which is a part of Gui4cli. check that out if you have the time, it's just too good. All in all, Anybody who edits anything worthwhile in text form must have a look at this one.
Cons: none

Version: Notepad++ 2.8
Pros: This allows me to work on multiple files at once in different languages; I could design my web pages and the style sheets at the same time, making work faster, easier, and more fun. I have never seen a better app.
Cons: I would love for it to automatically publish my files to my FTP server.

"After one day, i completely love it!"
Pros: I just came across this yesterday. I initially used editpad, and liked it a lot but I needed something more. Syntax Highlighting and Syntax Folding. these are awesome. helps me HTML and CSS coding immensely!
Cons: none yet, still trying it out
-
Version: Notepad++ 2.8
Pros: I normally use Edit pad Pro. This program runs circles around it. Fast loading, and it lets you completely edit the syntax coloring, and the reserved words.
