Once you explore the power of NoteTab Pro, you may find this text editor beautiful despite its off-putting interface. The Pro version adds tag highlighting and allows you to program your own features. The left-hand column displays a list of commands, called clips, that do anything from inserting bits of text to generating code. Each library, the roster of which appears as buttons at the bottom of the screen, contains its own set of clips. The FTP library, for example, lets you create server profiles, connect, upload and download files, and issue various commands. The publisher's site offers many user-created libraries, or you can make your own. You can create your own clips by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F2 and edit them easily.
The Tidy HTML clip (in the HTML and Utilities libraries) incorporates the free download HTML Tidy, available on Download.com. While the TopStyle library similarly requires a CSS editor of that name, we couldn't get it to work. We would like to see a trial of the spelling and thesaurus features, too. NoteTab Pro isn't a tool for casual users, but power users and programmers should find plenty to love.

Version: NoteTab Pro 5.8
"Great Script and code Text Editor"
Pros: This is a great replacement text editor for Windows. Comes preloaded with lots of extras and is easily configurable. I have been a loyal user for many years. Supports many file extensions and has several add-on's for further extensibility.
Cons: No Linux Support that I know of.
Summary: There is probably to many features to go into a great amount of detail over. I enjoy the flexibility of the configurable interface and the overall intuitive use of the tool. When developing scripts and code I find the "snippets" library useful and w... read more >>

"Facilitates your work wtihout trying to think for you"
Pros: An amazing array of features that make numerous text editing jobs (including html coding) easier and faster.
Cons: A bewildering array of features - takes a while to figure out how to find what you need.
Summary: NoteTab takes a while to learn to use well, but the effort is worth it.

"The best over-all text editor EVE?"
Pros: I mean what can it do wrong? Based on activity of its user list, thera are very few problems. It works so well no-one ever asks how to fix this or that? It just works. Recall saying that about some MS software?
Cons: none that I can think of.
Summary: One of the best signs of any software is, how often are there are problems. And ive had none in 9+ years of use
