Although Symantec provides users with a full-function 15-day trail of its Norton Internet Security 2008 program, which is good, there are a few gotchas along the way.
One, to download, you must provide your name and e-mail address to Symantec. Two, you will be asked to provide name, address, and phone number before continuing (although we found that by hitting Next three times, we were finally offered a Skip option).
Once installed, the protection provided by Norton is quite good, even excellent, removing viruses, spyware, and rootkits alike while blocking malware from the Internet. We could do without the thick, oppressive interface, and we wish there were more configuration options beyond enable or disable, and more documentation to explain these options.
We found that if you turn off the antiphishing protection, you may be prompted to use Identity Safe personal information on fraudulent Web sites--not good. And we experienced some performance issues, with LiveUpdate slowing our machine to a crawl.
Finally, beware of the premium services being offered in the technical support section; for example, having an expert remotely repair your compute could cost you $69. There is an uninstall option within the Norton Internet Security 2008 trial, although after our 15-day trial period ended, we needed to use the Norton Removal Tool to completely remove all traces. While companies leave some data behind to prevent serial-trial users, Norton leaves behind more registry changes and files than most.

Version: Norton Internet Security 2008
"I can't write an honest review,"
Pros: I can't write an honest review because i don't use it. i just wanted to drop my penny's worth. I'm thinking, maybe we're a little to hard on old Norton these days. The virus scan rates 96.83%. i.2% behind Kaspersky. Not really to shabby now, is it? Their removal tool works , for those who didn't know, if you want to uninstall it. The interface is professional looking and for those wanting a full set of features, their all in ithere best I can tell. Unlike the common belief that it's expensive, it can be had at buy cheap software for a paltry $20,00 a year. Just shop on line but not from Norton, please!
Cons: It's my belief that no suite is bullet proof. On a new machine this one should be fine though. Hell, six / half dozen or the other anyway!

Version: Norton Internet Security 2008
Pros: i like how they pay c/net and pcworld to give them good reviews to push the worst programs ever made, off on people.
Cons: norton still owes me money for 2005 rebate. they offer rebates then refuse to pay out. then they push their garbage program off like it's useful, knowing full well it the worst thing you could ever put on a computer. then old outdated malware like coolwebsearch shut's down norton like cops on a **********, and starts sending out every bit of information on your computer. while even worst programs like spyware doctor have to clean up nortons mess. on top of the security program running through every bit of your computer it has live updates running constantly, slowing down your computer more. norton is the biggest scam company ever. nothing has ever infected a computer worse than a norton program. every employee should be put in prison for fraud an every person who has ever been taken by a norton product should get their money returned plus interest. norton should make a program called anti-norton virus remover, and they already do. get it now!!!

Version: Norton Internet Security 2008
Pros: It came with my mother's Windows Vista laptop and it was free for a certain amount of time.
Cons: Even though it was a free subscription, this internet security suite is MAJORLY INTRUSIVE. Lets start with the scanning. Even though people said it's very accurate, it also takes VERY LONG. Sometimes with no detections at all, you wasted about four hours of your life just for a full system scan. Also, it couldn't act the way it says but not be all bloated. I really dislike how they added the site advisor bar, it's big, ugly, and makes IE even worse and a lot more slow! Then comes the memory usage. It was ridiculous! Norton constantly has a Liveupdate running, high RAM usage processes, and constant nagging and annoyance about everything. The laptop has 1GB RAM and ran incredibly slow due to Norton Internet Security. Lastly, the price is ridiculous.
It honestly makes me NOT want to use the product and makes me NOT like antivirus software. There is a lot of freeware that does better than this. I do not recommend this!
