Norton 360 is the top of Symantec's new line of premium anti-virus tools. Like its stablemates, Norton 360 offers real-time protection from a host of existing and emerging threats, including viruses, malware, phishing, corrupt downloads, and online scams. It protects your e-mail, social media sites, mobile devices, Cloud-based resources, and even your family. And Norton 360 also includes 24/7 technical support as part of its subscription price -- something free anti-virus tools can't match. You can install Norton 360 on three separate PCs, too, so it can protect your home network or other family members' computers (with help from Parental Controls). But Norton 360 goes further still with automatic backups and other enhancements. In fact, you might say that Norton 360 not only does more but does more for you, too.

If you're upgrading or already have a Norton account, Norton 360 practically installs itself. There's a lot going on behind the attractive, easy-to-navigate user interface, but plenty of assistance is available by clicking "Support" to access Support Contacts, Help files, Tutorials, and lots more. Under Tasks, we could choose from an impressive page full of tools and processes. Clicking any feature's tile exposed details, settings, and extras like the Identity Safe (local and online versions, actually) as well as Tuneup features like the Startup Manager and Disk Optimization. Once your system is protected, spend some time setting up any extras you need, such as Norton Family's parental controls or the My Network management tool.

Since it flagged our PC as At Risk, we let Norton 360 update itself and then apply Security, Identity, Backup, and Tuneup protection (like we said, it does most things automatically). We always run a full baseline scan with a new anti-virus tool. Norton's full system scan takes a while and looks at everything, though the next scan finishes faster. You can choose Quick and Custom scans, too. Sure, freeware offers similar basic protection, but few tools at any price can match Norton 360's comprehensive care. It protects your identity, privacy, and security while you surf, shop, and bank online.

Editors' note: This is a review of the full version of Norton 360 6.0. The trial version is limited to 30 days.

"Was better, one prior service is now for a fee"

January 01, 2014  |  By Experienced_Newbie

 |  Version: Norton 360 6.0

Pros

Easy to install, update and use. Purchase at discount of $50 plus $4.80 tax for up to 3 computer for one year. Back up service, partial start-up on/off.

Cons

HAD free live help. Now appears to charge $99. Was not able to find and remove Connect PUPs and redirecting of search, ad pop-ups, tracking, etc. Still need to use Win. Performance to stop some programs from loading on the start-up.

Summary

Easy to use but will need other programs to find tracing, adware and redirecting malware. The other program states that their is not for virus.

"System Resource Hogger"

September 09, 2013  |  By cybermanbuy

 |  Version: Norton 360 6.0

Pros

Good program, but utilizes more CPU as compaired to others.

Cons

Does not work with Malwarebytes program, always comes up letting me know that I need to remove this program.

Summary

Norton should work with Malwarebytes to work together to protect the consumer and not fight for the market where both organizations have different strengths.

"Very Big Improvements."

August 29, 2013  |  By Mervic17

 |  Version: Norton 360 6.0

Pros

Latest version to date was really awesome!!! Very low on resource (CPU/RAM usage) even with a full scan at work. No slowdown on my system and it auto optimized when idle. Updates so frequently on definitions. Helpful tune ups a plus. You got the options to delays some start up program which i like most under tune up/start up section. Stable for me even on boot time, windows 7 loads fast.

Cons

All i know ish im happy.

Summary

Honestly i tried different av softwares the free ones and i keep coming back to norton 360. Coz some will work out just fine on start but for a few days it will show some different behavior on my pc. Im just curious to try different programs but i just keep coming back installing Norton 360. I use this along with Malwarebytes free, Privdog(on Chrome ext),and spywareblaster and Winpatrol. Pc is running well and never had any slowdown even on start up.No doubt now,,i'll stay with Norton 360.

"Worth the money!"

July 07, 2013  |  By SmartGuyForComputers

 |  Version: Norton 360 6.0

Pros

I have been using BitDefender Total Security for the last year. I can tell you Norton 360 beats BitDefender and every other suite.
-Insight Network (contains a huge database of good files, bad files, and files with a bad reputation. They examine a bunch of characteristics of each files). Download insight automatically blocks applications from running when downloaded until you have given them permission to run.
-Smart Two Way Firewall (Extremely good firewall, not the best, but will protect you as long as you don't do anything stupid).
-SONAR protection is their heuristics engine and is very high quality. It has never really given me false positives before.
-Intrusion Prevention (Protects the OS and many programs from exploits).
-Tamper Protection (Prevents malware from messing with Norton).
-Norton protects against malware extremely well.

Cons

-Does not contain a file vault/encryption like BitDefender does.
-Needs a more stylish user interface (for those less computer savvy people).
-Implement white listing into safeweb, safesearch, and into their malware scanner.
-Performance is good, but it should continue to be improved upon.

Summary

So overall, best security suite I have ever used. Frankly you see it losing out to BitDefender on many websites. Look what ads they are running (you see TopTenReviews always putting BitDefender infront of Norton because they get a huge amount of money from BitDefender for ads). It has many tools that make prevention of malware not something to worry about. BitDefender focuses more on detection (which is why it is ranked above Norton because those research institutes test detection, not prevention. Frankly to all those people who shout "At least I can navigate through BitDefender's user interface", any person with some intelligence can operate through Norton's settings. Finally the insight network and Norton's safeweb are the main reason why I am switching back to BitDefender. I want to make sure the files I am download are not only not malicious but have good reliability and performance. Below are some extras that come with Norton 360.

[360 Extras]:
-Utilities is a bunch of tools to help speed up your computer.
-Backup is very useful. It includes great encryption for your backup files. You can upload them to the Norton cloud or put them on your computer or a removable drive.
-Facebook scanner monitors for malicious links in posts.
-Safeweb and safe search protects you from visiting malicious sites aswell as clicking malicious links in search engines.
-Anti-spam removes spam and malicious emails.
-My Network is used to map out your network.
-Identity protection auto-fills out forms for you and encrypts them in a safe location on your hard drive.
-Silent Mode automates actions taken for various alerts.
-Scheduled Tasks allows you to configure when you want various tools to run.

"Price OK, if you're lucky"

July 07, 2013  |  By dennphill

 |  Version: Norton 360 6.0

Pros

OK - The program generally works OK and seamlessly.
Initial price was OK, but renewals are exorbitant, especially for more than one year.
Whined to customer support a few years ago to get better deals then (2010 and 2012); then not possible this past Spring.
Bought N360 for 2013 in a store marked down for about 20 bucks, and just let subscriptions lapse (on 2 laptops and my PC) in April and then just installed the store-bought program. That price was right!

Cons

A few times in the past few years Norton 360 has suddenly just said "Subscriptions over! No protection!" on a single protected computer, resulting in me having to reinstall. Norton customer support has been poor!
RECENTLY have been receiving continual warning of "Norton PC Checkup Has Found Warning Signs..." and solicitation to buy Norton's Rescue Me for 5 bucks. Peter is probably totally ashamed.
Lousy popups are very aggravating. No love for Symantic marketing or pricing.

Summary

It's all above. If I don't find a box of Norton 360 2014 next year in a store for 20 bucks or so, I will simply change to a better internet security suite. Norton's worthless and they just don't care.

"Kinda like better security suites but way overpriced."

May 19, 2013  |  By re1ezy

 |  Version: Norton 360 6.0

Pros

-Does what it is supposed to
-Not my thing, but if you like features you got them here

Cons

-Probably one of the most ram intensive programs on my computer excluding games
-Constantly minimizes fullscreen programs to tell me they using a lot of memory
-Incredibly overpriced, and there are better products
-Mostly like three features I use, and a lot of bloatware

Summary

Will not buy again.
