CNET Editors' review
Norton 360 is arguably the best-known software security suite in the world, but that doesn't necessarily make it the best. However, in this latest version Symantec responds aggressively to user complaints concerning resource-hogging while including improvements in botnet detection, warnings for suspicious online retailers, and virus-definition file updates pushed every 15 minutes.
The suite includes antivirus, antispyware, antiphishing, antispam, antirootkit protection, a firewall, Symantec's SONAR (Symantec Online Network for Advance Response) behavioral-monitoring software, and a vulnerability assessment tool to see what Windows updates your computer might be missing. It also rolls in 2GB of free online storage for backing up your most important files, which can be upgraded for a price. The resources manager lets you streamline your boot cycle to start faster when the computer's off. The new install time is blazingly fast, and should clock in for most users at under or around one minute.
The interface overhaul is much easier to manage, with horizontal navigation and clearly delineated categories. Advanced options are available from two text links on the top nav, Tasks and Settings. From here, users familiar with Norton 360 will find more choices than ever before to customize and tweak protection behavior. In many ways, this version of Norton 360 has finally caught up with the times. Although it may pain the cynics to hear this, Norton 360's revamped approach to security and ease of use and its emphasis on speed make the program worthy of consideration again.

"Good but not the best."
Version: Norton 360 4.0
Pros
Easy to set up and use. Constantly updates. Provides good protection. Blocks potential threats. Comes with backup. Pretects good against viruses, spyware, malware, etc. Idle tasks easy to perform. Has 3 levels of full scans.
Cons
Not a true quick scan. It is its toolbar. Store personal information in it. It gets hacked into. Not safe then. I got spam mail. I stopped using the toolbar. Spam mail stopped. Slighly overpriced. Its firewall is a hinderance, not helpful.
Summary
I have used this against other manufacturers'. I found based on the name. It is overrated and slightly overpriced. I found others that perform better. I found some that perform worse. It is overall. I have to rate it as average. I can't in honesty rate it as the best. It also lacks automatic scanning. It's to me. That is an essential feature. It automatically updates as scheduled. It is better than some competitors'. It is worse than others'. I suggest checking all before buying this one.

"4+ hours of my life gone - blows away identity safe pws"
Version: Norton 360 4.0
Pros
None!!!!!!!
Cons
Bad Documentation
Summary
Before install, back up all identity safe passwords or it'll blow them away! Just spent 4+ hours of my life on the phone to India - remote desktop and everything and they don't know how to save my passwords. They are still on my PC but N360v4 can't deal with former NIS 2010 passwords. BEWARE!!!!

"Ineffective, expensive, HORRIBLE customer "service"."
Version: Norton 360 4.0
Pros
I didn't find much to like.....
Cons
it did not, protect me from a nasty virus, that fortunately competitors product easily removed. Worse, Noron's customer "service" would only help if I agreed to an expensive upgrade(I already had paid for the total 360 package). ?
Summary
do not buy. do not let friends or family buy. expensive, ineffective, and Norton customer service is unbelievable. if you buy, you can't cancel unless you call...., good luck with that. I am not, a complainer.... but this was hands down the worst purchase I've ever made.

"Much improved from slow, bloated past versions."
Version: Norton 360 4.0
Pros
Speed of install, low impact on system performance, even while performing a full system scan in the background. Hard to believe this is from the same company that brought us the bloated and resource-hogging Norton 2004-2008 products.
Cons
Probably still the AV most likely to be targeted by cybercriminals, thanks to it's mainstream popularity, but that's the same position Windows is in, and you're probably using that, too.

"All good... but idle scans a bane"

Cons
