Publisher's Description
From CyberDisc:
NodeScan allows people to easily share any kind of file, as well as chat and search for information and files, over the Internet. It has been developed entirely on the Macintosh and currently beta versions for both Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X are available.
NodeScan is a hybrid peer-to-peer/client-server based system which combines the benefits of both kinds of networks. It consists of separate server and client applications.
The NodeScan network architecture has been designed for ease of use, stabilty and scalabilty.
Individual files can be tagged with custom key words and password protected. Using the NodeScan client application, users can search for a file based on filename or keywords.
Searches can also be done for files based on categories, such as "audio, "document", "image" or "spreadsheet".
NodeScan seamlessly supports Macintosh file forks, automatically encoding and decoding files as necessary.
What's new in this version: Improvements in version 1.07 of NodeScan Server include plug in services, the abilty to set up access permissions and a more secure and reliable messaging protocol for communication between servers and clients.
NodeScan Client includes user interface improvements and better reliabilty.
