    Version: NOD32 for Windows 95/98/ME 2.0

    "A fun program to review..."

by slappybones on May 26, 2005

Pros: It is a GOOD AV, just not the best! Kaspersky, Dr. Web, F-secure and BitDefender are just better.

Cons: I guess this could be considered a pro, but I really love it when NOD32 fan boys start foaming at the mouth, Start beating their chest, And eventually walk off crying to their moms about how someone left a less than 5 star review for the beloved NOD32. This makes me smile! I understand that NOD32, like alot of popular AV's does not pick up so called "Garbage Vruses" like old boot viruses, DOS viruses and other extinct viruses. What concernes me is NOD32 claimes to have some of the worlds best hueristics.."Advanced" hueristics which would lead me to believe that NOD32 would still pick up "junk" viruses regardless of whether they can still cause detruction. That is the whole point of hueristics!

    Version: NOD32 for Windows 95/98/ME 2.0

"I have a slow Win98'SE OS - Product uses little memory + works great!"

by zoril on July 3, 2005

Pros: I have tried most anti-virus software over the years. This one is the best by far for detection. I also find it to be a very stable product with updates often daily - sometimes more!

Cons: More a suggestion then a con - I would like to see a virus rescue disk option!

Having said that most people who have NOD32 installed won't need to worry about viruses anyway:)

    Version: NOD32 for Windows 95/98/ME 2.0

"This IS the best Antivirus, read on..."

by kasaman on November 19, 2005

Pros: Ive done a little comparative between the major AVs, which include NOD32, Norton, kaspersky, Trend Micro, Bitdefender and McAfee. Its based on the VB100 awards, which is a series of tests each AV may go through and a pass is achieved if it detects EVERY virus that its given while generating NO false positives. Heres the league table, the number in brackets is the number of passes minus the number of fails divided by the number of tests :O)

    Pass Fail Points

    NOD32 34 3 (84)

    Norton 29 6 (66)

    Kaspersky 29 13 (31)

    Trend Micro 13 7 (30)

    Bitdefender 9 6 (20)

    McAfee 22 18 (10)

Now NOD32 comes out on top in this very scientific analysis, and only Norton is close to it. Unfortunately Norton is the biggest resource hog out there, whereas NOD32 uses a miserly 6MB of RAM on my system :D. Which is it gonna be?

Cons: It is highly configurable, which can make it a little confusing if you want to depart from the default settings.

Summary: To start of NOD32 won its world record 25th VB100 award, no surprise there :) Plus the negative comments are from competitors so take no notice!

Anyway, this software takes much less resources than Avast,Norton, and Mcafee, even on my o... read more >>
