CNET Editors' review
Formerly known as the e-mail component of the Mozilla Web browser, Thunderbird now exists as a standalone, full-featured client. The recently stripped-down code feels leaner and more focused than the original Mozilla component. In terms of features, the program is comparable to or exceeds other products in this space, boasting good junk-mail filters, compatibility with RSS feeds, HTML support, and multiple identities. Thunderbird handles both POP and IMAP accounts admirably, but we would like to see greater support for Microsoft's Exchange server. The program also boasts stellar security features such as S/MMIE, digital signing, message encryption, and a built-in phishing detector. Visually ahead of the game, Thunderbird's interface is a joy to use, and the application now lacks the sluggishness that plagued previous versions. We also like the layout options, which allow us to view our mail in various columned arrangements. Other little perks include message searching, saved-search folders, import tools, smart-address completion, labels, and return receipts. Though the lack of full Exchange support will keep this e-mail app on the sidelines in the corporate world, home users looking for an alternative to Outlook Express will absolutely find Thunderbird a high-flying choice. New search and tabs take flight in Thunderbird 3:Publisher's Description

"Just WOW"
Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5.0.2
Pros
This really exceeds my expectations. I like the interface very much and have been happy using it with my new computer. It was the first application I downloaded and installed as I did not want to be using Outlook Express.
I like the extra ability to have rss feeds expecially.

"Fantastic email client"
Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5.0.2
Pros
What's not to like? Easy to setup, works great. I use it now in place of Outlook and Outlook Express.
Cons
Sigs need to be stored out to a text file. think that could be more integrated.

"Terrible! Flawed! Not worth downloading!"
Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5.0.2
Cons
Many types of email cannot be deleted. The "Junk Mail" feature is inefficient and there is no option to automatically get rid of junk. Address book is too limited and refuses to remove addresses. Cannot compare with Outlook, Outlook Express, Pegasus, Hotmail or Gmail.
Randomly deletes messages or attathments/photos, or randomly denies mail to be sent or recieved. The interface is poorly conceived and the entire program is slow and pathetic with either no or completely useless spell checking.

"So-So"
Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5.0.2
Pros
I liked the extensions as well as Spam handling.
Cons
Either I'm missing something or the ability to forward mail is lacking. I could find no way to easily forward attachments, and the removal of other recipients addresses in the forwarded mail was something I was never sure was completed. I'm still looking for a good email client.
