From Mozilla :Note: Firefox 3 Beta is a developer preview release of Mozilla's next generation Firefox browser and is being made available for testing purposes only.
Firefox 3 Beta is based on the new Gecko 1.9 Web rendering platform, which has been under development for the past 27 months and includes nearly 2 million lines of code changes, fixing more than 11,000 issues. Gecko 1.9 includes some major re-architecting for performance, stability, correctness, and code simplification and sustainability. Firefox 3 has been built on top of this new platform resulting in a more secure, easier to use, more personal product with a lot under the hood to offer website and Firefox add-on developers.
Firefox 3 Beta 4 includes more than 900 enhancements from the previous beta, including drastic improvements to performance and memory usage, as well as fixes for stability, platform enhancements and user interface improvements.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 3 beta 4
Pros: Speed is much improved. Finally passes compliance tests. (Safari and Opera did a long time ago.)
Cons: Most existing extensions won't work (typical every time a major upgrade comes along). UI is ugly. (2.x is better-looking.) Window size and placement is not persistent from one session to another - always opens fully maximized.
Download manager, application associations don't work properly. For example, it won't open PDFs or Word docs in the associated applications, even set to do so in the preferences menu.
Maybe it will improved for the final release, but Firefox 3 is still pretty buggy at present and needs a good bit of work. Stick with Safari or Firefox 2.x for now.

Pros: It works in general. I like the tabs. Haven't spent much time on Firefox b/c I like Safari better.
Cons: it is slow compared to Safari. Some of the sites I go to just did not work. Yahoo games for instance... I like to play Literati... it did not work well. Another site, usa game lounge solitaire did not load at all. It tried to load but it didn't.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 3 beta 4
Pros: Fastest Firefox yet. Nice user interface (Finally integrates well with OSX) and many new features. Also has a huge add-on library.
Cons: Still some problems, especially with certain Java applets causing crashes. The session restore feature does recover your pages however.
