Publisher's description
From Mozilla :Note: Firefox 3 Beta is a developer preview release of Mozilla's next generation Firefox browser and is being made available for testing purposes only.. Firefox 3 Beta 1 is based on the new Gecko 1.9 Web rendering platform, which has been under development for the past 27 months and includes nearly 2 million lines of code changes, fixing more than 11,000 issues. Gecko 1.9 includes some major re-architecting for performance, stability, correctness, and code simplification and sustainability. Firefox 3 has been built on top of this new platform resulting in a more secure, easier to use, more personal product with a lot under the hood to offer website and Firefox add-on developers. The latest version, 3 beta 1, adds one-click security info, improved malware protection, easier password management, a new star button for easier bookmarking, and a variety of other new features.
Beta 2 includes a wide range of improvements including fixes for stability, security, performance, memory usage, platform enhancements and user interface improvements.
Note: Beta or prerelease software is not intended for inexperienced users, as the software may contain bugs or may potentially damage your system. We strongly recommend that users exercise caution and save all mission-critical data before installing or using this software.

"VERY GOOD UPGRADE. USER FRIENDLY."

Version: Mozilla Firefox 3 beta 2
"Not (yet) enough of an improvement over version 2."
Pros: Easy to navigate and use. Reasonably small download, and quick install. New uninstall options for cleaner removal. Finally CSS standards-compliant.
Cons: Maybe a little faster than version 2, but still not very fast. Still a bit of a memory hog like its predecessor. Many existing plug-ins don't yet work with it (surprise, surprise).
Hopefully, the final release will be better. Just being "not IE" is no longer enough, when there are alternatives like Opera and Safari.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 3 beta 2
Pros: Might be a little faster than the 2.x versions. Pretty much the same (good) user interface and menus as before.
Cons: As usual, many add-ons available fro 2.x versions don't work with it. Doesn't pass browser compliance tests. (Beta 1 did... definitely a step in the wrong direction.) Still gobbles up memory, despite claims to the contrary, and is still really bad at printing.
Don't waste your time on this one. Keep using 2.x, and maybe Mozilla will get rid of the bugs and annoyances by the final release.

"Fast, improved sire rendering, but some annoyances still not fixed!"
Pros: The positive thing I have noticed about firefox beta3, is that it seems to be able to compete better for bandwidth than IE7. When I am doing downloads, many sites will time out in ie7, while firefox seems to be able to get some bandwidth released for it. this is very nice, as everything runs in harmony.
Cons: Ironically, I had to use IE7 to submit this review, because the box was taking too long to come up and would time out repeatedly.
What I find most annoying about firefox, is the pop-up box listing your downloads, but which is really quite useless, as it doesn't allow you to move files or to redefine where they get sent. For example if you want to send different files downloaded to your pictures folder, others in program downloads folder, others in engineering files folder, others into webdesign folder... but it just dumps everything into the same place (\my documents\ in this case). VERY annoying and I use IE7 because forms work correctly, I can easily change a destination location for a download, and the controls are nicer). Ironically, I tried to do this review in firefox3, but the review form doesnt come up in firefox and I had to do it via ie7.
I must say, ie7 now has the most pleasant personality (human interface and reactiveness), and AVANT Browser is the best for general features and nuances, usability, and extra features for advanced users that I have found. (however, Avant doesnt work that well in Vista - its an improved front end to IE).
If Mozilla can incorporate the best of both, get everything to display correctly, and CORRECT that handicapped download feature, I'd be willing to switch for good.
I know Mozilla Firefox is a good program, with an enthusiastic following, but having tested many others I can say that it is not the best one. I would like it to be though, as I support the open-source development community concept.
