Even though Internet Explorer dominates the Web browser market, you might wonder why if you spend some time with Mozilla Firefox. This light and nimble Web wonder brought tabbed browsing into the mainstream (IE7 recently jumped on the bandwagon) and offers countless ways to customize it through extensions and themes. Drag-and-drop tabs with individual close buttons help keep your content organized the way you like, and you can further streamline your browsing through the use of extensive hot keys. You'll find all of the regular options and features required for surfing the Web in the default setup, but the groundbreaking features come with the thousands of third-party extensions. Likewise, if you don't like the look of the default interface, there are hundreds of slick themes to use, though many weren't updated for version 2 at its release.
Firefox is the perfect browser for those involved with Web design and coding. A JavaScript debugger comes standard, and Firefox displays the page-source code in a new window, using indents and color-coded tags similar to an HTML editor. The built-in pop-up blocker works great for most sites, and new antiphishing protections and enhanced security for extensions are in the version 2 release. Anyone looking for a full-featured browser with seemingly endless ways to customize should download this powerhouse.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.10
Pros: Firefox's menus and design are clean, simple, and easy to use. The download is relatively small, and so is the installed disk footprint. The advanced configuration options are welcomed and the availability of a bazillion extensions and add-ons make it very flexible. That it runs on on Windows, Mac, or Linux is a big plus. Supposedly some substantial improvements on the way for version 3.
Cons: Persistent quirks and outright bugs have plagued Firefox from the very beginning. Though improved a little, it's still afflicted with memory leaks, and can gobble some serious RAM after a while. That might almost be excusable it Firefox were really fast, but it's not.
Printing is still bad. Some graphics and page elements don't get printed, the page setup margins and preview and the actual output bear little resemblance to each other. I very often have to print out web-generated forms for my work, and Firefox is useless for doing so, since the formatting gets ruined.
Compliance with W3C standards isn't great, and some CSS elements are not rendered properly. Opera, Konqueror, and Safari all pass the Acid 2 browser test, but Firefox still does not.
Firefox's design is better than its execution, and I want to like it more than I do. If Firefox's longstanding bugs and shortcomings could finally be corrected, it could be terrific. Simply trying to be "better than IE" isn't enough any more. I'm hoping version Firefox 3 will be better.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.10
Pros: still burning the **** out of the web. browising can't get any better than this.
Cons: What I don't like about this tremendous browser is that it has not wiped Internet Explorer off the face of this earth..................................yet.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.10
"Not ready for prime time yet"
Pros: Free
Cons: I am not impressed with Firefox. I do not like or use tabbed browsing, it only confuses me and requires two or three more mouse clicks to close programs. Firefox has an added toolbar which allows you to delete all the useless buttons from it but not delete the bar itself. The toolbars are too tall. There only needs to be one toolbar with available buttons to place on or remove from it. (I want my screen for viewing my information, not filled with worthless toolbars.) I am anything but a fan of M$, but IE-7 with tabbed browsing disabled and the free third party plug-in IE-7 Pro installed, is worlds superior to Firefox. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it until Firefox is greatly simplified.

"getting worse with every update"
Pros: it use to be good
Cons: everytime i get an intrusive update firefox gets slower. now its giving pop-ups asking me questions. it's slowing down and invading my surfing. i no longer use it, i switched to opera now. internet explorer seems to run better than firefox does now.
