Publisher's description
From Mozilla :Note: Firefox 3 Beta 1 is a developer preview release of Mozilla's next generation Firefox browser and is being made available for testing purposes only.. Firefox 3 Beta 1 is based on the new Gecko 1.9 Web rendering platform, which has been under development for the past 27 months and includes nearly 2 million lines of code changes, fixing more than 11,000 issues. Gecko 1.9 includes some major re-architecting for performance, stability, correctness, and code simplification and sustainability. Firefox 3 has been built on top of this new platform resulting in a more secure, easier to use, more personal product with a lot under the hood to offer website and Firefox add-on developers. The latest version, 3 beta 1, adds one-click security info, improved malware protection, easier password management, a new star button for easier bookmarking, and a variety of other new features.
Note: Beta or prerelease software is not intended for inexperienced users, as the software may contain bugs or may potentially damage your system. We strongly recommend that users exercise caution and save all mission-critical data before installing or using this software.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 3 beta 1
"Less Memory Usage, But No Add-Ons"
Pros: Firefox 3 (Beta 1) uses far less memory than Firefox 2.0.0.x does. It has a place to see Firefox's plug-ins (within "add-ons").
Cons: Almost no add-ons (extensions/themes) are compatible with Firefox 3 (Beta 1). This means it is not possible to use this beta as you would use Firefox 2.0.0.x day to day.

Version: Mozilla Firefox 3 beta 1
Pros: Same good menus and appearance as previous version. Better W3C compliance than old version.
Cons: Still buggy, and I'm not only talking beta teething problems:
Memory use is better than it used to be, but Opera is still much better.
Printing is still terrible. Margins are never anything close to what is set, graphics are often (but not always) omitted, tables get truncated.
As always, add-ons get broken with every major version change.
Not reliable. Crashes occasionally, and can't seem to display some sites correctly.
This beta is hardly worth your time yet. Wait for the public release, or at least a later beta or release candidate. Maybe some of the new bugs (as well as the annoyingly long-time ones) will get resolved.

Pros: Most of the sites worked alright. the Places menu is a good add-on.
Cons: Certain Javascript issues on some sites, most of the Extensions do not work, the bookmark feature along with the Places is buggy

"Some work left to do on this one... but it looks promising."
Pros: Looks like Mozilla is at long last addressing Firefox's memory leaks, so it's not quite as big a resource hog. The uninstall routine now gives the user the option of removing user settings, so it doesn't leave all that trash behind anymore. Printing still needs work, but is improved over Firefox 2 ( where printing was so bad and unpredictable as to be useless). Standards compliance is much improved, and Firefox is about to catch up to where Safari, Konqueror, and Opera have been for more than a year now.
Installation is about as quick and simple as it gets, and the disk footprint is reasonably small. The interface remains simple and well laid-out, and it remains one of the easiest browsers to use.
For too long, Mozilla seemed content with simply being perceived as "better than IE", and were ignoring Firefox's own bugs. Looks like they've gotten serious again, and if they can clean up version 3 a little, it should be good.
Cons: As with almost every new Firefox release, your extensions and add-ons will be broken with Firefox 3.
Seems to choke on some common Java code, and doesn't render some sites properly.
