CNET Editors' review
The final release of Mozilla Firefox offers enough features to make you rethink Internet Explorer. You can easily create toolbars by dragging and dropping icons. Live Bookmarks turn RSS feeds into something that acts like a bookmarks folder. You can type Google search queries right into the address bar or use the built-in search box. The program displays the page source in a new window, using indents and color-coded tags like an HTML editor. You can view your bookmarks or history in the Sidebar area, which lets you quickly revisit your favorite sites. Though the browser hides its advanced settings, you can still build modules using XML, CSS, JavaScript, and even C . The program includes such tools as a JavaScript debugger and a DOM viewer.
At 55MB for 25 windows, the browser uses fewer resources than Internet Explorer but more than Opera. The built-in pop-up blocker works better than Opera's, IE's, and those of most paid standalone utilities. However, the download manager is still underdeveloped. Though the final release version vastly improves stability, we noticed occasional reluctance to maximize in response to Alt Tab commands. People who want more security than IE provides should look at Mozilla Firefox.

"Potentially wonderful, but presently pernicious"
Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.7
Pros
I've used Firefox off and on for the better part of a year, and I have kept pace with the upgrades. What I can say is that the ability to add plug-ins is a winning feature that makes it a compelling browser. Its graphical interface is compact and visually appealing, and it starts small allowing you to add what you need. Like virtually all other non-IE browsers, it implements tabbed browsing, and does a reasonably decent job of it, though not the best. This combined with the comparative lack of spyware vulnerability of IE make it a strong contender. However...
Cons
Firefox has a few problems as well, indeed problems that I find to be copmletely unacceptable. One problem is that the third party extensions are not guaranteed to work when you upgrade your Firefox browser. Oh how easily we humans succumb to convenience. We quickly become attached to features and become reluctant to trade them in, even at the expense of a technologically superior product. For some reason, Firefox has always rendered a bit more slowly on my systems than other browsers for some reason, but that is a fairly minor complaint unless you are engaged in time-critical operations that rely on split-second timing. The true problem that I have with Firefox, and the reason that I no longer use it as my browser of choice, is that it has a habit of crashing, spectacularly and fatally. Some websites out there simply will not play nice with Firefox, and will cause it to have fits of existensial angst that cause it to force you to create a new user account, and most distressingly of all, devour all your bookmarks. Never have I encountered such a flaw in other browsers, and as such I did not have a recent backup of my bookmarks in the case of such an event. It's for this reason that I recommend Firefox with reluctance. It has so much charm, but when it dies, it does so with more drastic consequences than one might expect. If you're willing to prepare for this eventuality, and to potentially get stuck in the comparative "dark ages" because you are reliant on a favorite extention then go for it.

"Fast, secure & easy to use"
Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.7
Pros
It is so much faster than IE, and is easy to understand and use. I think the modular nature of Firefox is a positive rather than a negative, you can choose which features you need and want, rather than the Microsoft approach of "We want you to have it, so there."
I haven'y experienced problems on any sites so far
Cons
None so far.
