The final release of Mozilla Firefox offers enough features to make you rethink Internet Explorer. You can easily create toolbars by dragging and dropping icons. Live Bookmarks turn RSS feeds into something that acts like a bookmarks folder. You can type Google search queries right into the address bar or use the built-in search box. The program displays the page source in a new window, using indents and color-coded tags like an HTML editor. You can view your bookmarks or history in the Sidebar area, which lets you quickly revisit your favorite sites. Though the browser hides its advanced settings, you can still build modules using XML, CSS, JavaScript, and even C . The program includes such tools as a JavaScript debugger and a DOM viewer.

At 55MB for 25 windows, the browser uses fewer resources than Internet Explorer but more than Opera. The built-in pop-up blocker works better than Opera's, IE's, and those of most paid standalone utilities. However, the download manager is still underdeveloped. Though the final release version vastly improves stability, we noticed occasional reluctance to maximize in response to Alt Tab commands. People who want more security than IE provides should look at Mozilla Firefox.

"Mozilla Firefox..... ROCKS!"

July 19, 2005  |  By genie15

 |  Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.5

Pros

It is probably the safest browser around. It's MUCH less vulnerable to viruses than IE. It has a built-in pop-up blocker, which is very useful.

The extentions are nice, but Firefox kicks butt even without them.

Cons

Many websites work only in IE, which can be annoying, to put it lightly. But as more and more people are switching to Firefox, people are starting to keep us Firefox users in mind when designing their websites.

"A bit advanced for novices, but undoubtedly the safest, most versatile browser"

July 19, 2005  |  By JHann

 |  Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.5

Pros

Firefox has: Tabbed browsing Built-in protection from adware, spyware, and viruses Customize with stunning themes and brilliant extensions Invaluable extensions for web development Fast page searching (just use "/" key!) Fast web search on hundreds of sites

Cons

Optimizing Firefox up for very slow (dial-up) or very fast broadband connections could be simpler. Other awesome features are not very easy to discover. Be sure to go to Firefox Central at mozilla.org for help on maximizing your web experience with Firefox.

"I love this Browser!"

July 18, 2005  |  By MOZILLA RULES

 |  Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.5

Pros

Tabbed browsing, extensions, multiple home pages, password protected autologin for your favorite sites, you can increase the font on anywebsite, you can change skins, there are just so many things, I find something new everyday... I love Mozilla. It has far less adaware no pop ups. It's great, read all about it at the mozilla site.

Cons

You have to reinstall your Quicktime, and things like that to your browser. Which takes only a few minutes, because Mozilla will pop up with an alert telling you that you can't view everything on the page because you're missing such and such an application and it gives you a link to the place where you can download the needed application. It's amazing. The con isn't even that big a con.
