Version: Move Me 2.4
"Good, but not great, and decieptful too"
Pros: It works well, once both computers have the software running, and the firewalls are setup properly or disabled. It compresses the data then sends it accross.
Cons: You can do absolutely nothing, and I mean NOTHING at all, unless you count searching for things to transfer then sitting there waiting, until after you have Purchased a license. Although it sais you can purchase a single transfer license, it is the same price as that of the whole program, therefore it is worthless. The program has trouble transfering some settings and files between WinXP computers, the reason given is security or share access violations or something. Certain shortcuts' icons do not show up properly, even though the programs they link to, or the files they link to, run perfectly. And the biggest shocker of all, a perfectly good Files and Settings Transfer Wizard is built into WinXP already, Pro and Home. There is no need to pay $32.95, or whatever, for a program that doesn't do as good a job, and which makes you download a demo that you find out later does absolutely NOTHING!! Do NOT, I repeat, NOT use this program if you are just migrating between WinXP computers, let XP handle it on it's own. And I suggest trying to find a better program that will actualy allow you to do Something in it's demo, before having to pay.

Version: Move Me 2.4
Pros: Used Move Me 2.5 to set up my new MacBook running on Win XP Pro under Apple Boot Camp. Transferred 70Gb of applications, documents and settings from my old PC to the laptop without too much hassle. Transferred with removable external drive. But read the Move Me User Guide carefully before you start!
Cons: User Guide needs updating - does anyone use floppies any more?? Plan your transfer carefuly - mine took 12hrs of computer time.

Version: Move Me 2.4
Pros: It does exactly what it says it does: it moves your applications, files, product licenses & registrations, registry keys, everything. If you have a home network and/or a router, migration couldn't be easier or faster. The only program I had to reinstall after migration was iTunes. One program out of several dozen is fine with me!
Cons: Documentation is sparse and "live help" seems to be one guy in the Pacific Northwest - but he did have the answer I needed when I had an issue.
