From olej :Mosaic Creator is a professional photomosaic and thumbnailer tool. There are a full range of options to control image distribution and enhanced rendering parameters. Image size and number of used images is unlimited, and it supports non-rectangular cells such as puzzle, triangle, and hexagon. It now is available in more than 80 patterns. The professional version has a pattern editor. Users can create their own patterns. Mosaic creator is not only for photomosaics. You can create mosaics with small sets of images or clickable thumbnails from your photo collection. Images are enhanced with alpha masks and color masks. The application supports the following input file formats: BMP, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, TGA, PCX, WMF, and EMF. Output file formats are BMP, JPEG, TIF, PNG, and AVI. Mosaic Creator supports multipage printing and the ability to render mosaic animations. For a non-professional user, the application has a built-in wizard for creating photomosaics or Web thumbnail galleries.

Cons: I found this program too vague on the instructions. I don't think I'm stupid, but I couldn't get this to do a photo mosaic that looked anything like the picture at all. The program assumes you should know what the difference between cell images and source images are and how to add more tile options etc. Even using the wizard this left me confused and feeling that I had just wasted a computer session. No doubt if you can get it to work it probably will do the job, but I don't care if it does give me 30 days free trial, I just don't have that much time to waste trying to figure out how to get this to do what I want it to do. Uninstalled and not being reinstalled...EVER!

Pros: Powerful tool for creating photo mosaic images, many many options, you can get results as you want. It's the best program in its class.
Cons: Need some time to learn how to use it, may be some more prepared templates may helps.

Pros: Huge number of options. Few wizards but I need tune result manually as I want. No other software with similar features. Many types of mosaic including video mosaics.
Cons: Not the intuitive interface, I need few minutes to understand how to use it. Few features are experimental like but working. Some tutorials may be fine.

Summary: This program is great for creating photo mosiacs. After messing around with it for 10min I was able to do what I wanted with no problems.
