MorphVOX Pro is a voice changer application with sound effects and background tracks built in. (There is a free application called MorphVOX Junior from the same publisher if you want to evaluate the software.) The MorphVOX Pro software is aimed at those who want to communicate online either with a change in voice characteristics, or with different effects applied. The $39.99 software installs easily.
The MorphVOX Pro has two interfaces. The Studio interface is divided into five panes, one each for selecting preconfigured voices (Goblin, Shade, Cyborg, etc), pitch and timbre controls, sound effects, voice effects and a graphic equalizer. The skinned version shows just the preconfigured voices and some effects. Using either interface is easy. Select what you want, speak, and adjust as you go. Want to put background effects behind your voice? One click. Want to have sound effects? Again, one click. While the morphed voices won't fool anyone into thinking you've changed you sex or become an alien, they are pretty good as long as they remain close to your real voice, and the far-out effects are well done.
We used MorphVOX Pro both for online gaming and for VoIP calls, and had some fun with both applications. After you try the free version, we suspect you'll be hooked and upgrade to MorphVOX Pro. A well done application for this purpose.

"Great Program When it does not Crash"

Pros
I'm making some cartoons and this program is great. It has dozens of free voices that can be tweaked with free VST plugins. You have to pa another $20 to get tghe plugin interface. The sound quality is excellent and it is pretty easy to learn in one day.
Cons
Comes with two skins and a third smaller to download free. The smaller skins background noise drop down does not change to a new choice. I selected Shopping Mall Noise but it kept playing City Noise. I was forced to use the larger skin that did not have this bug. The program frequently crashed requiring me to restart the program to continue. Twice, the program list box scrolling ability completely froze. I had to reboot the computer to get out of that one. These are serious bugs! They are irritating, but I really like this program. I hope the developers focus on a really stable release. If you want a rock solid stable program this is not one. If you want a load of voices and flexibility in manipulating them AND can put up with the bugs - it is still worth the price. Huge fun! When adding your own sound effects they display in one large alphabetical list not by category even though you must create a "Sound Pack" first.

Fix the bugs and this is a great tool!!
Technical support went above and beyond helping me to isolate the cause of the crashing. It was not corrupt memory as an error message indicated (I ran a thorough memory test). It appears to have been the plugin Effects Rack or one of the plugins freely available. I uninstalled Effects Rack and the crashes stopped. This is a super cool program and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a convenient way to switch quickly in real time to many different voices. I tried it out on Pal Talk as well and people thought it was great. A main reason to buy this is the convenience of the interface that allows the application of many effects among many voices to be applied quickly. The help file could be much improved as I found myself stumbling on great features that were not so obvious. A definite buy. The 7 day trial period is a thumbs down, however. They should have a standard 30 day trial period.

Pros
ScreamingBee offers some of the best support and painless installs Ive seen, and they have a library of add-ons (some free). Its easy to tell they actually use their software. It is compatible with the exVox Voice Change Controller i use.
Cons
Although in no way is this software a bum deal, the price is a little above some of the competitors (Blaze audio Voice cloak, Scramby, for example).
Summary
If you've got time and no money, check out vocalster free voice change software or Funny voice. The free software is simple and creative and may be all that you need.
