Check your computer for possible security misconfigurations using this Microsoft freeware, but don't expect it to detect network connections effectively. Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer resembles most Windows interfaces: clean and well-organized. This application mainly helps you scan your computer's security settings for vulnerabilities. You can select among various scanning options to include checking for Windows security flaws, weak passwords, SQL vulnerabilities, and others. Just input your computer name or IP address, define the security report's name, and press Start Scan. Though thorough scanning takes some time, the analyzer displays a report with detailed information according to security categories. Also, if you want more details for each listed result, just click the provided links, such as What was scanned, Result details, and How to correct this. However, the offered feature for doing the same task over a network platform was not working in our tests. It detected our network connections only erratically; and when it did, it prompted that the user of the target computer was not using administrator privileges. This application is best suited for Windows users, but due to the stability problems mentioned, advanced users will prefer a bug-free application in this class.Publisher's description
