CNET Editors' review
Windows can display most image, text, and multimedia files, but sooner or later, the average PC user encounters a file type that Windows doesn't know what to do with. What if there were a single solution for viewing nearly every kind of file? Enter MegaView from Xequte Software: it's a comprehensive, all-in-one viewing tool that can open and display a huge range of image, multimedia, and text files, as well as other types like Microsoft Office files. It has several viewing options, including slideshows. It can create HTML documents and thumbnail sheets and perform batch conversions, too. Its Password Protection and image security features to keep your digital snapshots and images from being spread all over the Internet. It can even edit MP3 tags, create CD/DVD slideshows, and acquire images directly from a scanner or camera.
This program offers six different layout options for its toolbar, navigation, and main views, as well as several optional themes, tab styles, and even backgrounds, not to mention numerous options for configuring the display, thumbnails, security settings, and more. Pop-up tool tips and excellent assistance help keep things in order, but this is an easy program to set up, despite its many options, thanks to its cleanly designed dialogs and well-labeled controls. Where it excels is in displaying image files, either singly via the navigation pane, or in slideshows that have far more settings than the usual time interval and transition effects. Some features we really liked include an icon for renaming selected files all at once and basic play-pause-stop buttons for multimedia files.
We've seen lots of file viewers come and go, but MegaView looks like a keeper. It's a feature-laden, easy-to-use, one-stop file-viewing solution that's affordable to boot.
Editors' note: This is a review of the full version of MegaView 11.3. The trial version is limited to 45 days only.

"Nice picture display program, except for numerous access violations"
Version: MegaView 7.07
Pros
Supports a large number of file formats. Various automatic picture sorting methods. Pictures can be reviewed in a preview window or in full-screen mode. Good picture navigation in slide shows (First, Previous, Next, Last). Background audio file(s) can be specified. Good set of picture EXIF data. EXIF data can be edited. About 30 transition effects, and their length can be specified. Picture background color can be set. Supports videos, text, HTML. Batch conversion of image formats.
Cons
No manual picture sorting. The mouse can't be used to zoom (only pan). A picture's audio file can't play while its picture is being displayed. EXIF Image Description data is squeezed onto one short line. Limited picture printing ability: 1 picture per page, or all pictures of the same size. Numerous access violations. In fact, I wouldn't recommend this program until the problem is fixed.
