From Media Player Codec Pack :The Media Player Codec Pack is a simple to install package of codecs/filters/splitters used for playing back music and movie files. After installation you will be able to play 99.9% of files through your media player, along with XCD's, VCD's, SVCD's and DVD's. Also included in the package are a number of encoder codec's, allowing you to encode files in formats such as DivX. XviD, x264 and many more in your favourite encoding application. Compression types supported include DivX, XviD, x264, h.264 and many more in AVI, MKV, OGM, MP4 files. Video file types supported include 3GPP, AVI, MKV, OGM, MP4, MPG, MPEG, VOB, DAT, FLV, PS, TS, NUV.Audio file types supported include AC3, DTS, AAC, APE, FLAC, TTA, WV, OGG, Vorbis, MO3, IT, XM, S3M, MTM, MOD, UMX. Please Note: Protected formats such as iTunes and RealMedia may require a specific player. Version 3.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
Note: This software comes with a Dealio toolbar for Internet Explorer, that can be installed or uninstalled at the user's choice.

Pros: Just downlosd it and it works on its own
Cons: There a few codecs that it does not cover. It is however a very good product.

"Yay! an easy way to install codecs"
Pros: This package installs all the major codecs associated with video and audio files.
For those who don't understand what this pack is... codecs are like a plug in that enables your media player to understand a certain file.
Unlike other packs, this one doesn't change file associations or install extra players.
If you want to play an unusual or non standard file after installing this, all you have to do is right click on the file and select "Open With" then "Choose Program" and select your media player from the list.
