This handy extension for Internet Explorer makes a great addition to your Web security arsenal. SiteAdvisor draws from an enormous database of Web sites that have been checked out for spyware threats, malicious cookies, and questionable marketing ploys. Sitting quietly at the bottom of your browser, SiteAdvisor indicates the safety rating of your current site. Green is for safe sites, yellow for sites with some questionable practices, and red for particularly dangerous sites. The color-coded rating system also annotates your Google and Yahoo search results, providing advance warning of potential drive-by spyware installation and other dangers. An available online breakdown shows what kind of testing underpins the danger assessments. We also like the extensive site profiles with user ratings, which allow you to check out a site before risking a visit. In some cases, SiteAdvisor errs on the side of caution, labeling sites as dangerous because of minor infractions, but these are few and far in between. This free extension is an obvious choice for IE users who want better Web security.Publisher's description

Version: McAfee SiteAdvisor for Internet Explorer 2.3
Pros: I think this software is brilliant, and to be trusted. For those of you who don't know, this product was not created by McAfee, but only bought, which is a shame. I myself do not like McAfee, charging for virus software which is a resource hog and not as good as free software somehow seems wrong, however when the original creator sold the product to McAfee they included certain clauses to ensure that this product would not be to messed around with by McAfee, and I believe also a clause stating that McAfee will always supply a free version.
Cons: Sometimes it does rate sites wrongly, however this unfortunately is kind of expected for an automated system. As long as people realise it is a guide and not fact then it is only a minor problem.

Version: McAfee SiteAdvisor for Internet Explorer 2.3
Pros: Don't know didn't install it, Kaspersky found a trojan when trying to install this software. Next think you know I got tons of spyware and adware all over my computer. Had to get rid of them using Counterspy.

Version: McAfee SiteAdvisor for Internet Explorer 2.3
"It was good till McAfee got their hands on it"
Pros: It, like it's Firefox version, warns of spam and phish sites, but,
Cons: There are several sites listed as green that send 60+ emails per week, and some that send less than one per month and are listed as a red site, calling them "Somewhat Spammy". Who paid who there?

Version: McAfee SiteAdvisor for Internet Explorer 2.3
Pros: Finally, a tool that helps you determine the safety of websites you visit!
This simple explorer enhancement not only gives you a quick review of whichever website you're visiting (Green if approved site, gray if unknown, red if site has a history of spamming visitors or has security issues, etc..) but just hovering over the Mcafee Site Advisor icon in your toolbar gives you quick info and feedback regarding the sites statistics. I'm not a McAfee fan at all and wouldn't have tried it if not for the fact that Mcafee didn't actually "develop" this software.
Very easy to use and gives an added security "boost" while surfing...Definitely makes me feel better about letting my teenaged daughter surf the net without worrying about viruses and tracing cookies left on my PC. It isn't a magic wand that automatically makes the internet a "safe" place, and it isn't totally "fool proof", but it helps, and with the internet security issues today, we need every little bit of help we can get!
I can't recommend it enough!
Cons: Some inacccuracies when rating websites, but if you're cognizant of that when you use it, you'll find it's still a very helpful tool!
