This handy application manages your master boot record (MBR), but the interface and program complexity render it appropriate for advanced users only. MBRFix's command-line-executable interface has 13 functions that are easily listed with the /? option. The utility was designed to save an MBR to a file for transfer or backup. Drive-partition information is easy to get and delete with two command-line arguments. Advanced users will find it simple to read, write, or generate drive signatures with the proper arguments. The included HTML document page lists the arguments but expects users to understand their use. MBRFix is a tiny executable and operates quickly; most operations are completed in a few seconds. However, users can accidentally delete partitions and important data. Accordingly, we highly recommend this invaluable freeware tool only for system techs and advanced users who often install operating systems and switch out drives.Publisher's description

Version: MbrFix 1
Pros: Easy to use if people will take the time to read the documentation that came with it. Im going through trying linux distro's and this is so much easier than using the recovery CD.
For most of you, do this... Extract the folder to your desktop, then go to the start button and click run. Type "cmd" and hit enter, type "cd desktop" and hit enter, type "cd mbrfix" and hit enter, type "MbrFix /drive 0 mbrfix" and hit enter, all done
Cons: None

Version: MbrFix 1
Pros: I had installed a bunch of Linux distributions on my PC and ended up with a multi-boot Master Boot Record. After I got rid of all the Linux installations and partitions on my Hard Disk, I was still left with the multi-boot menu everytime I turned on my machine. Even worse was that the default option on the boot menu was a Linux partition that I had already deleted. Whenever I booted the machine, I had to wait for the boot menu to select windows, otherwise it would just hang and I would have to reboot again. A waste of time.
Just like the another reviewer said, this utility fixed the problem fast and easy. All I did was type the following in a DOS window.
mbrfix /drive 2 fixmbr
(2 was my disk number)
Rebooted and that was it.
Of course, I had taken many backup precautions but everything turned out just fine.
Thank you for this utility.

Version: MbrFix 1
Pros: At time of writing, there is only one other review--asking if this product works. I can confirm it does.
My machine was set-up to duel-boot into Linux/Windows using the GRUB boot-loader. I wanted to remove Linux, and having misplaced my Windows CD (honestly, I should have about 3 of them), I wasn't able to restore the MBR to boot directly into Windows. Simply deleting the Linux partition would prevent the machine from loading anything at all (GRUB resided there).
So I downloaded this program and am happy to report my MBR is fixed. No config or anything required.
Just launch the command prompt (Start > Run, then type 'command' and hit Enter), navigate to the directory you unzipped the program to (type 'help cd' in command if you don't know how to do this).
Then I simply used the following command, which runs the program:
'mbrfix /drive 0 fixmbr'
That's all there was too it. It worked so well I felt I owed it to them to write this review.
Lastly, I haven't noticed any issues with corrupt files, but it would be good practice to do a virus scan and such anyway before using the program. And certainly back up your important files!
Cons: The command-line interface... It works fine, but obviously isn't so user friendly. :-)
