A browser based on the Internet Explorer engine, Maxthon is probably something of a curiosity for most North American users. It never really caught on there, but elsewhere--especially China--it's one of the most popular browsers around. It renders pages fast and comes loaded with features, as if Firefox came with 90 percent of its most popular plug-ins.
All the basics are represented here, from tabbed browsing to skins to add-ons, and many of the rolled-in features make Maxthon hard to ignore. Some of our favorite features include rolled-in auto-form filling, the ability to set up bookmark groups that open on start-up--excellent for news or blogs, the ability to autoscroll Web pages, and pop-up and content filters for blocking ads and specific content formats you don't want. There are also customizable hotkey commands for such nifty features as auto-completing URLs, so if you type "download" and hold down the Ctrl key, it will auto-fill the "http://" and the ".com".
We also like the super drag-and-drop feature, which lets you directly select and drag keywords to a current Web page or directly to the address bar. Maxthon is fast, small, flexible, and easy to use, and the extra features make it a browser we highly recommend. This version, Classic, differs from the newer Maxthon in several ways--notably by being more stable and less customizable.
Publisher's description
From Maxthon International :Maxthon Lite (formerly MyIE2) is a multipage browser based on the Internet Explorer core (IE 5.x or 6.0 required). It can open multiple Web pages in one window, and it only takes a few system resources when you're surfing with the integrated user interface. It supports special plug-ins and IE extensions, and its features include the ability to autoscroll and form autofill. The program includes external tools, plug-in support, a newsgroup-browsing mode, mouse gestures, customizable skins, and an autohide panel. The latest release features improved theme support, enhanced stability, and updated skinning.

"MyIe2 Teaches IE how it should have been done!"
Pros: The Ease Of Use. On a rare occasion have I ever had to spend a lot of time to figure out how to access/use any of it's functions.
Opening up a link in a new tab "IS" as easy as right clicking the link and selecting "open in new WINDOW"
The selection of plugins is great.
Cons: Only have had one problem with the Browser. Access to GMail account has been problematic. But haven't made it a priority to address as of yet.

"Great program, easy download, free."
Pros: I liked that it was build on the IE core since I use sites that don't work so well in Firefox.
Cons: Tabs were quirky at first. On the default every link you click goes to another tab. Also there seemed to be a memory problem, my committed memory kept increasing while just sitting viewing pages, eventually over 100 Mb for one program running.

"I keep trying others but come back to Maxthon"
Pros: I have used htis since it was MyIE2, and am very happy with its tabs, groups, mouse gestures, integrated Roboform, integrated pop up blocker. It has more options than you can shake a stick at. I can get all of the File menu, and the buttons I need, roboform, plus the address bar all on one line, saving valuable screen real estate. Searches are done by either typing the term into the address bar, or using CTRL+O. I can highlight a word or phrase in the current document, and drag it to teh address bar to undertake a search. I can even define a search to use Google UK, and only to search UK sites. I've not found any other browser I can do that for. On top of that it is totally free with no nags and no advertising. Oopera uses a huge amount of screen space with its adverts.
Cons: Yes its slower than Firefox, sometimes, but it works with more sites. You have to find hte appropriate plug ins to get some of hte features into Firefox. I do not get the crahses and freezes some others have mentioned, and i have used Maxthon and its predecessors for years now. It shares favourites with IE, so if I have to use that (and good old Microsoft still launches it some times) tehy all work.

Version: Maxthon Lite 1.5.2 build 21
"Clumsy implementation, major flaws"
Pros: Shows some promise, has lots of features I never got the chance to try
Cons: User interface is deeply flawed. First, the website fails to make clear which version--lite or regular, or both--contains the program's most attractive feature, tabbed browsing for IE. Second, though the tabs look nice, you CAN'T OPEN A NEW TAB BY RIGHT-CLICKING A LINK AND SELECTING "OPEN IN NEW TAB". Why on earth would I want tabs if not to do this? Worse, there seemed to be absolutely no way to change this setting--and no way to even open a new tab from the file menu! It's almost farcically stupid. Did they even try 30 seconds of user testing!?
