A browser based on the Internet Explorer engine, Maxthon is probably something of a curiosity for most North American users. It never really caught on there, but elsewhere--especially China--it's one of the most popular browsers around. It renders pages fast and comes loaded with features, as if Firefox came with 90 percent of its most popular plug-ins.
All the basics are represented here, from tabbed browsing to skins to add-ons, and many of the rolled-in features make Maxthon hard to ignore. Some of our favorite features include rolled-in auto-form filling, the ability to set up bookmark groups that open on start-up--excellent for news or blogs, the ability to autoscroll Web pages, and pop-up and content filters for blocking ads and specific content formats you don't want. There are also customizable hotkey commands for such nifty features as auto-completing URLs, so if you type "download" and hold down the Ctrl key, it will auto-fill the "http://" and the ".com".
We also like the super drag-and-drop feature, which lets you directly select and drag keywords to a current Web page or directly to the address bar. Maxthon is fast, small, flexible, and easy to use, and the extra features make it a browser we highly recommend. This version, Classic, differs from the newer Maxthon in several ways--notably by being more stable and less customizable.

Version: Maxthon Lite 1.2.4
Pros: Stable mostly and seems too function correctly.Has some nice skins available for it.The price is good to it's Free.
Cons: Still just a overlay to the ie engine. Slower then Mozilla, or Firefox and I don't believe as nearly secure. Also from my experience with it. There are others like it that are faster then this is.

"Excellent Freeware Browser 10/10"
Pros: Excellent reliability, Great Plugins, Great security, very good ad blocker, very good flash and activeX blocker, no adware, spyware, malware, and most of all it is free.
I have tried all the other browsers on the market today, and so far I have always come back to Maxthon as I have found it the best.
Cons: About the only con I could say is that it is based on ie 5 & 6, maybe a future plugin could be introduced for it to emulate the likes of netscape to cover the bad parts that ie 5&6 have in them.

Version: Maxthon Lite 1.2.4
Pros: Fast.....Great popup Blocker.....
Cons: Have tried the last 3 versions of this product and I every once in awhile I get a exception error and the browser is then worthless. Have to close the browser and restart it for the browser to again work. Not cool!

Version: Maxthon Lite 1.2.4
"most logically arranged of the bunch"
Pros: The tabbed browsing feature is the most logically arranged of the bunch. The anti-popup feature works regularly and well. It's just a great browser; I don't care if it is built on an old IE. The Maxthon version lets you spraw your favourites across the screen, and I have a lot of them, or use MYIE2(I have both on my machine) for the older "up and down" version. The "mouse gestures" work well, sometimes too fast if I don't slow down the cursor speed. The skins are nice, I use one of the more bland ones because of my tired old eyes, but every once in a while I spice things up with one of the flashy ones. Microsoft's IE just gets popup after popup and I don't like the way they figure they have the correct idea about how I should set up my browser. I like Firefox because it is VERY quick, but don't like the lack of tabbed browsing. Opera is a fine browser also but I just can't get used to it's "feel". Lycos's browser is absolutely MARVELLOUS for the skins, I use them at school and the kid's love 'em, but I keep coming back to MYIE2 when I've gotta get work done.
Cons: I just wish, and I've emailed their forums about it, I just wish that they would make some kind of "splash screen" that is REALLY KEWL(actually COOL) to set as a homepage. I use Maxthon's or MYIE2's "business" page as a home page, that way I can easily see if some internet bugger has done something funny to my machine. Otherwise, it really isn't much of a "con".
