ManyCam is the freeware tool for you if you use both CamFrog and ICQ, or any other video chat program, and you want to use them simultaneously. It creates a "virtual" Webcam that replicates your currently installed camera. It then lets multiple applications access the video stream without conflict.
ManyCam is compatible with Yahoo, MSN, CamFrog, PalTalk, ICQ, Skype, YouTube, and more. Once you've installed ManyCam, you need to set ManyCam as the primary input for program that you want to use. ManyCam will automatically start when activate your Webcam through that program. The application includes a bunch of gimmicky features that let you change aspects of the background and foreground. You can map a new pair of cartoon eyes over your face, and they track pretty well to your movements, or you can show that your life is hell by replacing the background with flames.
There is an unfortunate toolbar that will install unless you opt out during setup, but other than that ManyCam is worthy of a Webcam Oscar for cool and useful tech.

when i run the digital clock or the the thing where the flames follow you, it uses 94% of my computers resources, that's not good at all. It would be Cool if it had picture-In-picture and split screen

I like this program, but it needs some refinements and it has not passed the windows testing i can't do anything else when this program is running it uses up my resources and i do not have a wimpy computer. I have a Gigabyte quad bios motherboard with AMD Phenom quad core 3.8 GHz x4 and 16GB ram and a 1000GB hard drive. and SLI graphics. and this program bogs it down, its the only program i have came across that has done this to my computer. fix this problem and this would be a super great webcam program, I still like it.

For something like this I never expected to be totally free! There's even more effects on their website to download for free. I can change the background, draw on my webcam, write on my webcam, it's just so fun to use.

Crashed computer multiple times (Blue Screen of Death). Has huge application logo that cannot be altered, removed, moved, etc. taking up 10% of screen area (regardless of resolution settings).
Summary
I've been looking for something like this to split the video off of a dash mounted high end USB video camera for some time now, so that I can both record what is happening in front of my vehicle and allow others to see the video live at the same time.
Installation was fairly straight forward, just point and click. It did trigger several alerts in Zone Alarm, and shutting down your anti-virus and/or firewall will only delay that, not prevent it. Other than that, installation appeared to work fairly normal.
I went through the various screens to set up the camera itself. One thing I liked is I can switch between using the camera or using the application seamlessly, unlike SplitCam (which takes over the camera exclusively). Unfortunately, there is a large logo graphic that cannot be resized, relocated, removed, or otherwise altered, taking up 10% of the shot.
When I attempted to set up a second software application (Windows Live Messenger) however, the computer crashed under WinXP Pro SP3, every single time, during initializing of the camera setup routine. This error was duplicated easily. Microsoft's only solution for this problem is to remove the driver/application and to find another more suitable one that they've certified (there are none).
A visit to the developer web site yielded no solution, nor did it acknowledge the problem exists.
A known bug that can be easily duplicated by end users should have been corrected by now, especially one that causes a "Blue Screen of Death" type error, is unacceptable, even in free applications. Hence the very low rating. How did this program get such a high rating from cNet with such an obvious flaw? -
