From Firetrust :MailWasher Pro allows you to preview multiple accounts and all aspects of your e-mail on the server before you download it to your computer, thus protecting you from spam, viruses, phishing attacks, and other nuisances. The program also learns what kind of e-mail you want to receive and adapts to your preferences. You can then delete unwanted e-mail before it gets to you and even report it to the central FirstAlert database, where it's verified to ensure no other MailWasher Pro user gets it. Other features help identify and protect you against viruses and worms. Also included are comprehensive, customizable filters, use of public blacklists to identify spammers, and multiple accounts. MailWasher Pro is compatible with POP3, Hotmail, MSN, AOL, and IMAP.

Version: MailWasher Pro 5.3
Pros: - One of the better mail filter programs.
Cons: - All mail filter programs just get tiresome and ineffective after a while. Spam will just find other ways in. And you have to constantly add to the never ending blacklist and keywords.
- Hence, a better but harsher way is to simply filter out any mail not from people in your address book. But MailWasher and most/all mail filter programs strangely are not designed to do this simple task despite their array of filtering features.
BUT OUTLOOK EXPRESS CAN! SIMPLY FOLLOW THESE STEPS:-
1. Open Outlook Express.
2. Go to Tools > Message Rules > Mail.
3. A "New Mail Rule" window should appear. (If the "Message Rules" window appears instead, you already have a rule. Click "New" in this case to get to the New Mail Rule window.)
4. In the New Mail Rule window, select the "Condition"; "Where the From line contains people". Then under "Rule Description", click the highlighted text, "contains people".
5. In the new window "Select People", click "Address Book" and add all of your Address Book entries to the "From" list on the right. Click OK.
6. Back in the Select People window, click "Options". In the new window, change the 1st rule to, "Message does not contain the people below" and make sure the 2nd rule is, "Message matches any one of the people below". Click OK.
7. Back in the New Mail Rule window, select your "Actions". I suggest, "Move it to the specified folder". At the bottom for Rule Description, select the highlighted text, "specified". In the new window "Move", specifiy the folder you want. Click OK.
8. Give a name to your new rule. Click OK.
9. Click "Apply Now". (Apply your new rule to your Inbox).
10. All mail not from people in your address book will now go to the folder you specified. (You can review them there incase there is a legitimate mail.)

Pros: Yery accurate at identifying spam. The bounce feature worked perfectly. The added Statistics and Logging feature is nice.
Cons: Can't import Friends list from Outlook. Would like more information regarding email (i.e. delivery path, origin etc).

Version: MailWasher Pro 5.3
Pros: I am an 'it' professional. I have used this product for years, and thus also watched its development. I have great respect for Nick and his team, and the spirit in which they are invested in this work. This is the product of a serious dedication to no frills protection and privacy safeguarding for the 'community'... meaning you and me, and not for serving some corporate interest.
While you are checking it out, you should also check out what's available through the community forums they have forged with others for raising awareness about email safety, fighting spam, and so much more.

Version: MailWasher Pro 5.3
Pros: Very flexible, but easy to configure. Keeps SPAM out of your inbox but lets you view all your emails before they are deleted, if you wish.

"Simple and effective - what more do you need?"
Pros: It does exactly what I want it to. It cuts through the dross of the rubbish that is spam and does it quickly and effectively. It's easy to set up and the low cost makes it even more value for money. Buy it, you wont regret it.
Cons: None. It's one of the best investments I've made.
