MailWasher Pro 2011 is a major update to the 2010 version and allows you to preview multiple accounts and all aspects of your e-mail on the server before you download it to your computer, thus protecting you from spam, viruses, phishing attacks, and other nuisances. The program also learns what kind of e-mail you want to receive and adapts to your preferences. You can then delete unwanted e-mail before it gets to your PC. Also featured are comprehensive spam tool including white and blacklists, customizable filters and use of public blacklists to identify spammers in an easy to use package.
What's new in this version: Version 1.2 includes spam reporting, improvements, and bug fixes.

"Great 2010 version Had lifetime free updates - not now"

Pros
Great reliable pre-processing of e-mail. Weed out the trash. I've used MailWasher since the beginning and had LIFETIME updates as I paid in the beginning. I highly recommend the old program. I haven't (paid) upgraded to the new one.
Cons
Company is ignoring their promise of FREE updates. Now ~$20 year. Program stopped working (my fix below) without warning.
Summary
I REMOVED [via Add and Remove] the program keeping all settings (an option) then ran the original set-up program again -- everything back to it's old great self before the program stopped on me. You might try it if you want to keep everthing working as before. I love the program, but I do not like the policy change after being promised something different.

Once properly taught and configured, does a good job spotting junk/spam. Single star is for their bean-counters.
Cons
New version requires 19.95 per year renewal fee and they SHUT YOU OFF if you don't pay.
Summary
Would have been ok with a reasonable (< 10.00 ) renewal and software continuing to run (just can't get future updates) but the high renewal cost and application shut-off is inappropriate for this type of software. Will not be using again unless they change their policy.

Very good software that I've been using for years.
Cons
Now being asked to pay high annual subscription on a product that I had previously paid for with a perpetual license. When I upgraded last year, there was no indication that I would be required to pay an annual fee.
Summary
Very disappointed. Firetrust are going to find they have a lot of angry ex-customers. I'm going back to the previous version (6.54) which doesn't require annual subscription.

Customers who upgraded to Mailwasher Pro 2010 for $10 were not told that the product would stop working after a year and that it would cost $20 to renew the next year. How much will renewal in 2012 cost we wonder?

2 step needless process since most email clients now have adequate spam filtering built in. Paid for 2010 version and cannot continue to use that version in 2011 because I didn't want to upgrade to 2011. No choice in this matter.
Summary
I used to like Mailwasher. Upgraded in 2010. One year later was told I HAD to renew to keep using it. Could not even continue to use the version I upgraded to. Now using Windows Live Mail with great junk filter. Don't Need MailWasher anymore!

Helps you sort thru your spam emails but it makes YOU do ALL the work!!
Cons
You have to pay them every year, even if you've paid for a lifetime membership which is not honored. They have become greedy. Also, the program is too complicated and you have to look through all the email anyway.
Summary
Too much work to learn the program and then sort through all your email every time, before you even get to read it! What a waste of time! Windows Live Mail (free with Windows 7) does a great job of automatically sorting my email and putting the junk emails in the junk folder. It works very, well and can be taught any time someone new starts writing you!

Summary
While this is a pretty decent program, I was very upset to find out that the "lifetime updates" I had paid for in the early days of the program would NOT be honoured AND I would be forced to pay the $19.95 annual fee to keep the program functioning. It turns into cripple-ware as soon as you quit paying them. Don't waste your money... there are other and better programs out there.
