This e-mail application aims to stop spam by letting you bounce e-mails from your POP3 server before you download them, fooling spammers into thinking your address isn't valid. You can add bounced senders to a personal blacklist that will bounce all future attempts automatically. If the spammer uses a program that purges bounced addresses, over time this should get your address off the list. Hotmail access is available only in the Pro edition of MailWasher, as is protection of multiple accounts. MailWasher Free works best for people with a single POP3 account, or as an extended demo for those who are considering buying the Pro version.Publisher's description
From Firetrust :MailWasher is a program to help you get rid of spam and viruses in your e-mail. MailWasher allows you to preview all aspects of your e-mail on the server before you download it to your computer, thus protecting you from spam, viruses, phishing attacks, and other nuisances. You can then delete unwanted e-mail before it gets to you. Other features help identify and protect you against viruses and worms. Included are comprehensive antispam tools and many other features. Free version supports single e-mail account, and has no auto delete feature, recycle bin and no user support.

Version: MailWasher Free 6.3
"Great for diverting & bouncing junk mail!"
Pros: User friendly, good but basic visuals
Cons: Some error messages. You need to keep an eye on what it's deleting, as sometimes you can accidentally delete messages you want to keep, but there is no way to get them back in the free version.
Summary: Great! I hate spam. But be careful not to delete messages you want - you won't get them back again in the free version.

Summary: I used to have the pro version of this but was unhappy with having to run it every time and then my e-mail client, didn't think it was worth renewing my payment. However I have not found a free spam blocker that is remotely as good so I have gone b... read more >>

Version: MailWasher Free 6.3
"I don't want to be without it."
Pros: Easy to use, kills spam, allows me to read and delete short emails, keeps an eye on my mail provider for me using fewer resources than my email program.
Cons: Can't think of anything to dislike!
Summary: It works, it's free. What else can I say?

Version: MailWasher Free 6.3
Pros: Easy to use, fast and effective - and with the preview feature, not just for spam either.
Cons: Only deals with one e-mail account - but from what I've seen, the Pro upgrade is worth it
Summary: I have a "catch-all" type mail account, which has fairly ineffective spam filtering. IN addition, some of my so-called acquaintances are in the habit of forwarding every humourous video that comes into their posession to their entire address book. M... read more >>
