    Version: Macro Scheduler 7.3.11.1e

    "Everything you need"

by IanSmith on May 13, 2005

Pros: Microsoft came in and said there was no way to automate a particular problem. I downloaded the app and had a working fix in one day. The learning curve was a wee bit steep, but nothing that couldn't be beaten.

The product has incredible depth - if you just want to record mouse and key clicks it does that without a glitch. However, if you choose to delve into the real features the hand coding tools are as comprehensive as you could want. From simple tweaking in an intuitive script language to embedding VB and compiling into a stand alone exe - it's as powerful as you need it to be.

Cons: The only thing that got to me was in debug mode - the script runs from the cursor point. I've not yet found the setting that lets me run from the start each time, but I realise the benefits of the default settings.

    "Bargain, It WORKS, Great Support"

by RachaelThomas on May 10, 2005

Pros: I have accomplished my goal of automating Microsoft Street & Trips for showing real estate broker market data.

    Point 1: The product works

Point 2: The product WORKS! Yippee!

Point 3: I thought that the tech support couldn't get any better than the pre-sale service, but I was wrong! Marcus in tech support virtually 'adopted' my project (visitation via remote desktop software provided by MJT [g])to help me in tutorial fashion with the actual code (not even just conceptual solutions, which would have been great, but in working out the actual code of my application).

The ONLY other company that comes close is Infragistics, and they sell a $1,000 package (including about $300 for their annual support). How Marcus can provide such terrific support for a $75 package is totally beyond my understanding, but I certainly appreciate this FREE support! I am a 'raving fan', and I would buy ANY software that I needed that MJT produced. I also plan to contract with the company for consulting on an extension of my project. The software is a GEM, and the support is one of the "top-two" support experiences that I have ever experienced before and after a software buy!

"Highly rated - Software that works period."

    by pasdad1 on May 9, 2005

Pros: I'm a programmer by trade, and so the other macro products I tried fell way short of the mark. If you want to do more than just the simple stuff, then this is your product! The ability to also code in VBscript makes this an unbeatable combination. The support staff for this product give the BEST tech support I have ever received for a product. They will debug code samples you provide, and if you don't have a clue how to do something, they have even written code samples for me that worked the first time I tried them.....try THAT with other software vendors!!

Cons: The only con I could come up with is, yes, there is a little more of a learning curve here...... but It is worth it! Take the time.... Learn it..... and you won't regret it.

"Best productivity tool anywhere. Easy to use, does it all!"

by SensibleBob on May 9, 2005

Pros: One of the easiest to learn, use, productivity tools. I have been recommending Macro Scheduler for at least the past five years to my clients.

Tech support is second to none. The forum is active with professional users, who work together sharing techniques and providing how-to experience. But very unusual is the fact the development team actually participates in the forum.

New releases are frequent, none mandatory, not for bugs, but rather to add new features. Great documentation, examples, sample scripts.

After a short time of usage it is often easier to write the scripts directly vs. recording them. The language and syntax are extremely easy to pick up. And logs also exist if there is a need to troubleshoot any issues or to provide a record of activity. VBScripting is also included, can be imbedded or called as sub routines..

Macros can call other Macro Scheduler macros. Scheduling tools are fantastic, extremely flexible re triggers and frequency options. Macros can also be compiled and installed on other PCs without having Macro Scheduler installed on them.

I have not found a Windows program that it does not work with. As an example, I use Macro Scheduler at one site to combine information from Q&A DOS 5.0 with an ODBC connection with QuickBooks 2003 and to combine that data together in Access 2000 to generate reports automatically and pass information back and forth among all three programs, and finally send off emails to office managers with results of the day's activities. All done, off hours, unattended.

No program ever has everything that you want, but if you need it, the development team is very responsive and quickly provides you a solution. Might be the trigger for a new release. If they cannot include it in Macro Scheduler, they will provide you with information on how to solve the problem.

If you have any initial issues, just go to the user forum and they will be resolved in a short time with the help of the users and the developers who are friendly and non-critical.

    "Disappointing"

    by Hero5 on May 3, 2005

Pros: From the earlier reviews, this sounded like a great piece of software. One reviewer - awscruggs ? however gave it a poor rating. Probably a novice user, I thought. I?d looked at other macro programs- not great- but Macro Scheduler sounded the biz. I downloaded the software with great anticipitation. And was deeply disappointed.

Cons: I agree with awscruggs. I couldn?t get basic record and playback macros to work correctly. The program is not user friendly. I could get my head around other macro programs quickly -albeit some of them are quite basic ? but not this one. Incidentally I since found another macro program that is excellent, really good. I would like to mention it?s name but you might think that I was flogging it. I?m not. I?m only an ordinary user. (If you do a search here in Download you?ll find it. There are only a small number of macro programs anyway.)
