Publisher's Description
From Brad Oliver:
MacMAME is a port of the PC multi-emulator MAME. It allows you to play many of the classic arcade games from the early eighties on your Macintosh. It accomplishes this through emulation of the original hardware and the use of the original ROM code from those games.
What's new in this version:
- In sync with the Win32 0.56 build.
- Worked around bug in OSX 10.1 & 10.1.1 that would cause the front-end interface to be missing, and various game options to not work properly.
- Minor bugfixes to work better with OSX.
- New OSX icons.

Brilliant program... would like to be able to pick where files are stored as apposed to default location Documants folder, (like on an external HDD or where the MacMame app is (on a external HDD))
Would like to see support for same Roms that PC/Windows version of Mame can handle, (Newer Games (Metal Slug 5, 6 etc for example))
Keep up with The Updates... Great!!! -
"Love this amazing problem"
Version: MacMAME 0.87b

I love MacMAME, and it's one of the top five applications on my computer. THANKS to the hardworking people who have given of their time. That being said, I'd love to see something, anything, improve in the app since I started using it 6 years ago. The current methods for sorting games is frankly so bad, I'd have thought that Microsoft thought it up. I can sort by year, company, genre...but not by simple alphabetical order. I can't type "Pac-man" and go to the Pac-Man version I want. I can't tab through games in order. I can't do an "iTunes search," typing my word into a search box and having it spring up for me.
How about radically changing this app around? Just the front-end, I am happy with the under-the-hood stuff. How about making something that looked like an iApp? I'll gladly donate towards this goal (if you tell us how). -

I really love MacMAME 0.87b, but it can't compare to MAME32 (Windows) or GXMAME (Linux). I'd really like to see it have the same kind of support for filters/searches as those 2 MAME frontends, but I love my Mac and it's the best version of MAME I've found for it.
I had a few issues with my MacAlly iShock II gamepad but once I installed http://www.libsdl.org/release/SDL-1.2.7.pkg.tar.gz all issues were resolved. Thanks for the link to the forum. -
