CNET Editors' review
If we followed the advice that if you can't say something nice, you should say nothing at all, then this review would stop here. But we don't want you to fall prey to the poor performance and stingy trial restrictions found in this monitoring program, so we'll forgo the rules of etiquette.
MSN Spy Monitor's user interface doesn't make a whole lot of sense. A big, white screen with some buttons pretty much sums it up. None of the four navigational buttons are functional, and we weren't able to view any of the screenshots, keystrokes, or IM logs promised by the publisher. The settings menu, strangely located under the Help button, lets you set up your e-mail address and select how frequently the logs are sent. We got the e-mails, but no information on user activity, only the message that we couldn't view logs with the demo version. Nice.
The measly, 5-day trial period just adds to numerous issues we encountered with MSN Spy Monitor. It doesn't look good and it gives you little opportunity to test it. We suggest you save yourself some time, trouble, and money by skipping this program.
