"Impressive."
Version: MP3 Tag Express 3.0
Pros
Simple and very easy to learn is the first thing that comes to mind.
Lots of trimming and re-naming options that make it fairly flexible.
Clean and uncluttered window and it's not bloat-ware.
No viruses detected (whew!)Cons
It tries to connect to the Internet the first time you use it (which had me worried), but all it's doing is loading web-help.
It pops-up a message asking for a donation when you close it down, but it didn't do that the second time I closed it.Summary
I've been toying around with it and have already cleaned up a fair chunk of my music. My fav options are trim artist/album, trim special characters, and the track numbering. He's got some very useful copy and paste functionality in there as well. One feature I think is quite impressive is the disc ripper - it uses freedb to find the disc info for a cd and auto-tags the mp3 files as it saves them so I don't have to worry about tagging them later. The best feature of all is being able to load all the albums from an artist folder in one shot, allowing me to make the artist name consistent for all the tracks at the same time. This solves a frustrating problem of redundant artist folders on my iPod touch. I'm surprised this is freeware.

"Excellent- Sorted my tag info/filenames/tracks easily"
Version: MP3 Tag Express 1.1
Pros
I had a MP3 tag mess. This program enabled me to quickly rename and match filenames to titles to authors to artists and renumber tracks for converted old CDs and tapes and records. NO more 'Track 1' everywhere. Now consistant titles for teaching CDs
Cons
Would like to have the Title eg 'fire of love-1' rather than '1-fire of love' .. easier when sorting by track titles only. Then I would not have 200 of 1-titlenames and 200 2-titlenames. BUT small isssue considering the mess I had..
Summary
WMP and ITUNES cannot multile correct information like this can. It offeres special extra renaming features that helped heaps..Very reliable in changing tag info unlike WMP .. I have converted 100's records and tapes that were all track 1 and this numbered them correctly for me. I had 1166 tracks of the mp3 bible voice all track 1 and it numbered the whole lot perfectly.(was my old cd's converted). So easy to use so that title names and filenames are similar. Makes it easy to find and sort files. Excellent in Ripping. Overall quite impressed with my purchase.
