Publisher's description

From Thomas and Gerald Riechmann :

Loop Recorder is designed for capturing songs from the radio. The loop mode infinitely records up to a specified number of minutes in a continuous loop while scrolling the data. At any time during the recording, the current data can be previewed and songs can be cut and saved as MP3, OGG, or ASF files. In addition, you can fade in to and out of songs, and the level can be normalized. All this can be done while the recording continues in the background. The program also features an integrated timer that allows scheduled recordings. Since it records continuously, Loop Recorder is ideal for capturing songs from the radio. Never miss the beginning of a song again.

Version 2.05 improves the scheduling priority by adding the ability to increase the process priority, and the Windows Media file extension now can be WMA (default) or ASF.

    Version: Loop Recorder 2.05

"Problems saving, No MP3 above 56kbs, Absence of any customer service. Rip off."

by ckandemir on December 5, 2006

Pros: I have used Version 1 with no problems for 9 months. I wiped my hard drive and they wouldn't acknowledge my 5 emails asking to resend my code to use it. So I paid another 25Euros and got the current version 2...This version SUCKS.

Cons: I have been using it for a week. I have had error messages 20% of the time I try to save, nothing to do with my computer. This version seems to have glitches. You have to fiddle around cutting down your audio so you don't get error messages. What a complete waste of time, it is completely random. Also, they have deleted the ability to save MP3 files, clearly the most popular file type for transferring to various different MP3 player formats. The highest quality you can save is 56kps, which is appalling. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I have sent around 10 emails asking them to remedy, asking for my money back, I did pay for this product twice, and asking if I can use version 1, and as before not even an acknowledgement of my emails despite them responding promptly when I gave them my credit card number for the second time.

    I am furious.

"Loop Recorder is Great for Howard Stern Fans"

by Shephild on January 2, 2006

Pros: I needed Loop Recorder so I'd be ready for Howard Stern on Sirius Satellite Radio starting January, 9. I just typed the following command line in a daily Windows Task Scheduler shortcut and I'm ready to record Howard off the line-out from my Sirius radio. Example: C:\PROGRA~1\LOOPRE~1\LoopRec.exe -i -v:5-80 -c:4:00:00 -f:128:"C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Howard Stern\Howard Stern%N.mp3" The Task scheduler is set to activate at 5:00 a.m. C.S.T Monday - Friday. I tested it and it works like a charm.

I wasn't expecting the actual loop recording aspect to be handy. I was mistaken. I listen to AOL Radio and have Loop Recorder doing its loop thing... what's that? I like that song. I just click on "Save and Edit". The last 10 minutes of music pops up in the built-in sound editor. The editor is very easy to use and very intuitive. It practically trims out the songs by itself.(for personal use only of course; don't call the F.B.I.) For $20 Loop Recorder has great value.

Cons: Loop Recorder isn't the easiest interface to use; but if you figure it out, all the command line options are worth the trouble. Also, the timer recording option isn't a built-in function; you must use Windows Task Scheduler...it works fine though once you figure it out.

    Version: Loop Recorder 2.05

"It does exactly what I need it for."

by jackaspades on June 3, 2005

Pros: I was reluctant to move from cassette to CD beacuse it meant that I could not record radio anymore.. and that's what I listen to at work.

After I got my computer I done a search and found a few different programmes, but this one is perfect for me.

I start recording and it records for as long as I want.. then I can listen to the recording on my MP3 player..

It's better than cassettes now as I am not limited to 90 minutes.

Another benefit is that I can record songs from internet radio stations.. and the programme is not connected to the internet so no-one knows what I am recording or can charge me any money.. or sue me for illegal downloads.

    This is a great programme.

Cons: Not much to say is bad about this.. I am not too savvy when it comes to computers but after I figured out the basic settings I was happy.

Have still not figured out the timer setting to tell it when to start recoring and when to end, but I just leave it going and when I get back.. trim off the parts I don't want.
