"Useless on Wifi"
Version: Look@LAN Network Monitor 2.5 build 35
Pros
Have't tested yet on wired LAN
Cons
Tried to scan Lan from Computer connected by wifi and got 0 results. there are actually 4 devices connected to network responding to ping. :-(. Will look for alternatives.
Summary
I like the interface but... can't do anything with it.
-
"Contains Malware"
Version: Look@LAN Network Monitor 2.5 build 35
Pros
I don't know yet
Cons
Contains Adware or Malware - My security program detected PUP.CNET.Adware.Bundle which means that Cnet is not so clean
Summary
Install it at your own risk and scan it with an antivirus or anti malware program
-
"Outstanding! Works well and is easy to use. FREE!"
Version: Look@LAN Network Monitor 2.5 build 35
Pros
Easy to install, easy to use, does what it's supposed to.
Cons
It would have been nice to have side-by-side bar graphs of LAN activity for selected IPs, but it would be nice to win the lottery too!
Summary
I was looking for a small, easy to use program to monitor the activity on my home LAN. This does the job quite well for me. It has many more features than I will ever need, but they don't get in the way for a simple use. If you need more power, it's there for you when you do. Well done piece of software. And this version is free. Sophistocated users will surely want to investigate the retail versions of the newer product line.

"Worked for what I needed it for"
Version: Look@LAN Network Monitor 2.5 build 35
Pros
Worked well to evaluate the quality of my wireless connection
Cons
No complaints
-
"contains malware"
Version: Look@LAN Network Monitor 2.5 build 35
Pros
Nothing. No benefit for me.
Cons
It downloaded photojoy program as well as photojoy toolbar.
Summary
The Cnet message that stated it was free of malware was wrong.
-
"Great piece of software"
Version: Look@LAN Network Monitor 2.5 build 35
Pros
I have managed a 25 System Lane with it now for over 4 years
Cons
Will not install on Windows 7
Summary
You can't beat the price and speed
-
"xxxxxxxxxxx"
Version: Look@LAN Network Monitor 2.5 build 35
Pros
xxxxxxxxxxx
Cons
xxxxxxxxxxxx
Summary
What I was looking for was something like TCPNView. This doesn't do the same thing.

"Awesome albeit buggy"
Version: Look@LAN Network Monitor 2.5 build 35
Pros
Quickly scans any set of IPs, shows you what services are running on any one IP, graphical ping and tracert, save IP scan results as CSV, HTML, PDF, & other formats. In a pinch it can be run standalone (as long as you can read Italian XD)
Cons
Crashes like crazy (after 5 min, or instantly if it's in a bad mood). There doesn't seem to be any chance of an update. In fact, I'm surprised the website is still up (the download link at the site is broken, I'm lucky it's still available here).
Summary
This baby is a MUST HAVE if you manage a network. In spite of it's unreliability, the features and speed of this baby make it MUCH MORE than worth the headache.
FOURTY DOLLARS A YEAR?! AND ONLY USABLE ON TEN LANS?
Updated on Oct 1, 2012
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
.
Back in 2005, Look@LAN was a wonderful indispensable tool. However this is NOT Look @ LAN. It is the GUI of the app, but doesn't so much as ping 127.1.1.1, let alone your network. What it DOES do is say "There's a new version available!" and redirects you to the company that bought the rights to Look@LAN, doesn't give you a trial version, and wants you to pay a MONTHLY fee to use something that may not even be adequate for your needs. $4/mo or $40/yr. Now is that outrageous? Not that much. That DNS TOOLS site charges for it's service, and it's not that cheap but it's worth it. However offering a fake GUI to get people to buy it is pretty damn sleazy, especially if you're using a monthly subscription business model. -
