CNET Editors' review
Lively Browser Standard allows users to surf the Web and discover thousands of the most popular sites. While the browser does nothing to improve upon other systems, it certainly offers a number of ways to discover something new.
This program's best features are its clean display and user-friendly functionality. Modeling itself after popular browsers like Internet Explorer and Firefox, the buttons and interaction feel instantly familiar. Users are free to surf to their favorites like any other browser. However, Lively Browser's big attractions are its lists. A series of drop-down menus across the top offer links to the most popular Web sites, forums, and software online. Categories ranging from most popular arts sites to children, income, and more allow users to endlessly stumble across something new. One surprise parents may not like is the easy access to adult material. The top 1,000 adult sites are listed in plain view with no restrictions.
Users must purchase the program for complete lists of sites beyond the top 1,000, and this isn't something we'd be willing to ante up for. The browser itself offers nothing new, and the top 1,000 sites in the various categories are more than enough for us.
