"Light is good"
Version: Lite Edit 2
Pros
Web developer who's used LiteEdit since 2004; It's has line-numbering, syntax coloring, and it only takes up 1MB of memory. Great with SmartFTP when editing lots of server-side files... but I've also used it to open 100meg XML files and error logs.
Cons
Could really use a 'recover offscreen' function.
Summary
I've LiteEdit to develop sites for General Mills, Ulta Cosmetics, Redwing Shoes, and others. HTML, XML, XSL, PHP, AS3 and various flavors of ECMAscript. There's a proliferation of top-heavy 'development environments' for developing... but sometimes all you want is a $%^&*( text editor with some helpers. That's this.
Cannot recommend highly enough. -

Cons
The editing window text is small; I have not found a way to adjust that. I did not figure out how to set up the syntax color coding and I am afraid it might be something you have to do each time you start editing. They are supposed to be already set up...
