From its start as a post-Napster clone to its leading role as the quintessential Gnutella client, LimeWire has been one of the highest-profile P2P applications. The 4.0 series further ups the ante with a combination of new features, an updated interface, and better all-around performance.
On the surface, the refined and zippier Java interface houses some snazzy new icons and a few new features, including a connection-quality meter and a button matrix for zeroing in on specific file types. The search interface now sports a progress bar, and file information--such as artist and album--is more clearly displayed. The improved network performance gave us considerably more search results than previous versions and a more reliable downloading experience (for a P2P client, that is). This latest version also feels more nimble despite its inherently resource-heavy Java-based foundation. We like the What's New feature, which lists files recently added to the network. The check box to filter out adult content also is a nice touch.
The new features and overall functionality make this by far the most mature version of LimeWire to date. Despite the typical performance flaws found in all file-sharing clients, this latest version continues to offer solid performance and good looks across the board.

From LimeWire :LimeWire 4.9 automatically upgrades Windows users who don't have Java 1.4.1 or higher to Java 1.5, which runs faster and is more visually appealing. UPnP-enabled (Universal Plug and Play) routers are detected and automatically configured for optimal performance. LimeWire also offers the ability to search for Creative Commons and Weedshare licensed files. Licenses, once looked up, will be displayed in the library and search results. Also, of course, LimeWire continues its guarantee of no adware or spyware.
LimeWire is the world's fastest P2P file-sharing application, letting users share and search for all types of computer files, including movies, pictures, games, and text documents. The applications other features include dynamic querying, the ability to preview files while downloading, advanced techniques for locating rare files, and an extremely intuitive user interface.

"Great Program,Brilliant To Use."
Pros: I like the ease of use,the pretty quick downloads and quick connections.Compared to Kazaa or any other program which likes to exploit you by installing adware or infesting your computer with viruses,this is a must get program.
Cons: At around 11:30pm yesterday [Australian Time],I was downloading a file.I switched to monitor my download and noticed that someone else was downloading off me.He then stopped.A second later,he attempted to upload a virus to my computer.I immediately killed the upload and kept an eye on my moniter to make sure he didn't try again.So the only thing I say is - KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED.

Pros: It has a nice interface and is easy to use, but still Bearshare is alot faster. And if your worried about Bearshare installing adware and/or spyware on your computer, then download Bearshare Lite its spyware and adware-free!
Cons: Downloads are too slow.

Cons: Spyware and Adware WILL be on your computer within the first day of using this program. i'm still trying to get crap off of my computer from it.
