"Non-stop pop-ups"

April 19, 2008  |  By kirklott

Worst software I've ever downloaded.

First, the site advertises it's free forever. That's a lie, because from day one the pop-ups start asking you to subscribe.

I am perfectly ok with the 30-day free trail, then subscription model. But that's not what they advertise.

But the worst thing is the frequency of the reminder / pop-ups: at least a dozen a day. Whenever you turn on your computer, or turn it off, open Outlook, or close it, or just for the heck of it, there's a pop up saying your "subscription expires in days." They don't even tell you how many days (?!), which really just shows you they don't know what they're doing.

Finally, I don't even understand the utility of the thing. While lashback promises to make humanity safe from spam, the best I can figure is that it will try to unsubscribe for you from lists, if it's safe to do so. Anyone with an IQ over 50 knows what types of emails are safe unsubscribes, and which aren't.

Useless and INCREDIBLY annoying.

PS - My computer started to malfunction today - shutting itself down unexpectedly - after I uninstalled lashback. Yet another lashback feature?

"If you dont mind not being in control of your E-mail......"

There was nothing I really liked about the program. I found it to be annoying actually. I am only one opinion, another user may like it. I personally could not wait to get it off my system.

I take it back, there was one thing I liked about it. The un-installer actually works great!

Takes control of your e-mail. This is not a "Plug-in" as it would first appear. It is a full blown program that takes proxy control of your e-mail and does it's operation before you ever get to see what is happening. Very unnerving in my opinion.
