The King has been removed from the throne by an act of treachery led by one of his closest friends and a band of nobles calling themselves the Society. Version: Lands of Hope 4.2

    "A really good game."

by -Serenade- on June 28, 2006

Pros: This game is good because it's "big"... It's a really big world with loads of different items and monsters.

The people in the community (chat) are nice, and you are never being stepped on.

If you do pay for this game, it will take you one **** of a time to finish it. There are many many skills to do and 1000+1000 levels (1000 sublevels when you get to the max level 1000) so if you want a game to last long, this is it.

Cons: The closest to a con I get is that you have to pay to play it completly. However you can still get to level 100 for free and learn most skills before you get there, you miss out on some fun stuff though if you're not to pay... But the game needs money for the GameMaster to be able to work with the game and to pay all the bills that come with running a game.

    "Fantastic Game"

by arislyn on June 30, 2006

Pros: There is just so much to do in this game. Crafting skills, quests, create your own dungeons, tame beasts, own your own shops. The sheer variety of ways you can advance is impressive. So many other games limit you to just a handful of activities, but LoH gives you a plethora to pick from.

The community here is wonderful. If you are polite, everyone is more than happy to answer any questions you may have. You won't catch someone talking down to you because you are a "newbie." We all remember those first days, ourselves, and know how nice it is to have a friendly voice help you out.

Plus, the game designer is almost always online, ready to answer questions and accept ideas from the players. How many games out there can boast that?

I feel I need to address something another reviewer brought up: bought extras. (The publisher replied, but people often don't read those.) You can spend extra money, usually between $5-$20 for extra items within the game, such as special pets, extra backpack slots, etc. However, none of these things are absolutely necessary to survive, especially if you are playing on the non-PvP server. There is no real "competition" between players there except for that which is created by the player himself, such as a goal to get the highest ranking in a skill. The only other competition is between Alleigances, and that is always a friendly, non-PvP challenge (even on the PvP server).

On the PvP server, the item that I can see as being very useful is a secure backpack. Anything you keep in there can't be stolen. Still, it's not absolutely necessary to have a secure bag. You still gain experience from gathering resources, even if they are stolen. You don't lose experience from being killed, so you will still advance even if you are PKed. You can always create/join a guild that gives you a safe spot to hide and avoid being stolen from. There are even keys to be found on monsters which let you create a temporary, locked dungeon that no one but you can enter.

Cons: The game does have a steep learning curve. There are many, many screens and you need to read the manual and complete the tutorial to understand how to play. This isn't really a con, in my opinion, but it something to be aware of.

    "Do not bother"

by suntzueot on June 28, 2006

Cons: You have to PAY for each individual upgrade to the game. For example a bigger backpack. Those who do not pay will be at a severe disadvantage to the paying players. Do not expect in game support. Veteran players would not answer my questions not covered in the books/walkthroughs.

    "Great Game"

by guitim on June 28, 2006

Pros: This game has so much to do! I am a level 26 and I have been playing for a few weeks now. It is also wonderful that the creator listens to ideas from the players. You don't have to look very hard to get help, there are many faqs and forums to have your questions answered. I havereally enjoyed playing this game even though I can only play a couple of hours a day.
